I often wondered about the trailer tails in CA, since they are very sticky about length, but, since I don't have one or run CA, I never looked too deep into it.

I think you are confusing CAs. The federal DOT has ruled that trailer tails are exempt from length measurements, so they are legal on any STAA highway in the US. California, as fas as I know, measures only the load-bearing surfaces anyway (exempting reefer units, and those old 'bubbles' in the top-front of trailers before everyone went to full aero tractors).

Canada has ruled that trailer tails DO count toward the overall length and they will ticket you in provinces where it exceeds length limits.

    Melon and joetro:
Sears, JcPenny, The Hit Factory, Blockbuster Video, Boston Market, CONSOLIDATED FREIGHTWAYS, Farmer Jacks, Swiss Air, Polaroid. .........THIS IS JUST A SHORT LIST OF HUGE COMPANIES THAT WERE TAKING IN BILLIONS FOR YEARS, BUT FAILED! Most did so for well over 20 years. In the grander scheme of things, you are just a newbie to the business world like the rest of us. I could keep going with dropping more names but it would probably just fly under the ego you both must have with statements like that. Notice however that I sampled you with names from across the business world. Failure to reinvent and adopt new technologies is most often a leading cause of business death. Obviously you should never abandon the morality or ethics/principles that got you here.....but refusing to evolve with changing tikes simply makes you a modern caveman. Eventually the world world moves on.

This has to be an act. Nobody is this arrogant.

How's power steering working for you? Power brakes? Cruise control? Your truck is full of technology that was new at one point. I noticed you are typing on the computer which is connected to the internet. Why did you adopt any of it?

Are SS any good? I sure don't know, but I know run from those with closed minds. Twenty years ago there were a lot of guys just like you who thought the internet wouldn't catch on.

I know one thing more than you. I'm smart enough to know that I don't know it all.

Im pretty Confident with myself and whats even better is that I have a firm hold of this industry......I work hard(and smart) I pay my Taxes, I have a pleasant attitude with others in the industry

I mean Really?? Are you guys that Angry because I have succeeded?

I want EVERYBODY that drives to succeed........And i have offered excellent advice over the years to become a success story.

what i CANT stand are the young and inexperienced throwing drivel my direction.........Instead, Take Notes from folks like myself..Learn on what it takes to be cuccessful....

And you use innovations like Power Steering, The Internet and Such?

Ok,Your point? Ive tried them out.....They work for me without COSTING me (Keyword here) COSTING me any significant changes to my earnings.....

Im opposed to Super-Single Tires......I see nothing more than an excessive expense over time....

How do you know if they work for YOU if you never try them? You can't go on someone else's application because everyone's truck is different. We all haul different stuff. I pull tankers. Others pull flatbed. You might pull dry van. You can't say" well they worked for these other 10000 drivers so it's gotta be good for me." Or the opposite "well I talked to these 10000 drivers and they all said they didn't do anything so they have to be bad." The Michelin x one has been out since at least 2006 that I know of. The tire is in use in thousands if not tens of thousands of different applications. Conway uses them on trucks and trailers. Almost every bulk company uses them for the weight savings. Many o/o use them. So they have to be good. If not they wouldn't be in use in so many places. That's all I'm saying. 8 years is tried and tested in my book.

I have no idea if you are right or wrong, as I said in my post. I came to this thread to learn the opinions of SS. I see a lot of good debate and opinions, and one guy (you) who dismisses everybody else's opinion with put downs and a stubbornly closed mind.

Why do you feel the need to always puff up and brag about vacations or new cars? Usually people brag to strangers for one reason. Insecurity.

An old timer who is confident with his experience, but fascinated by new developments...Now that's a guy I want to listen to - not a guy stubbornly clinging to his betamax.
