Off and on since I've been out here. It's a lot easier to do once you get used to it. At first you'll always double guess your self is it safe? Did I do it right? Well when you've done it as long as I have you walk around once and yeah it's good. Or Oh I didn't see that I need to fix that. It's not hard sometimes when you get something weird it gets interesting. Tapping isn't bad DO A CLEAN JOB. There will be people like me driving by going wow he's lazy look at that tarp flapping around. The bad things are you will be dirty a lot and you will have to follow a lot of special rules in side steel mills or places like that. But I really enjoy it.

I like reefer trucking because the way it works and keeps freezing something. I like those trailers that have stainless steel corners and doors. I haul chocolate, fruits, vegies, and meat.

That is very true! It's always worth a try! If you don't mind my asking on this, what is the starting out CPM with Boyd Bros? Well, what's a good starting salary for a newbie, from what you've seen or your BF has told you? Lastly, is TWC training likewise to boot camp? I've heard through the grapevine that it is.

Ha ha, yes! I've seen some trucks with the tarp flapping around. I would like to appear intelligent, hard-working, and professional. Thanks for the FYI, though! In between flatbedding, what other types of hauling have you done? If you don't mind my asking, that is.

That is pretty cool! I've been considering doing reefer, well, I have for awhile. I'd like a nice challenge though, but maybe driving an 80,000 lbs truck will be challenging enough, ha ha. We shall see. I have 1-3 months before I go to any company! If the pay is good, consider me there!

Boyd starts at .38cpm plus tarp pay. They have other bonus and such too. As for TMC, others will have to answer.

Thank you for that information! Sorry, for some reason I got mixed up with what company we were talking about! Don't ask me how, ha ha! :biggrin_25512: What did your BF say about Boyd Bros training??

I just came back out here after a long stint haling grain, which I loved but I didn't like all the other stuff I had to do. I've pulled pneumatic tanks local just like grain (actually my truck did both) I've pulled dumps and vans and reefers. A very very short time with oil hauling (in KY). I came off the road because of a woman and things didn't work out so I came back out here. It's where I belong, I was bored a lot of time since I would end up getting off at 3 and starting at 7-8 in the morning so being alone the whole time with nothing to do kinda sucked.

Well, dang, that kinda sucks. Sorry that didn't work out for you, but I'm glad that you are now back to doing what you love! There's no place like home! How did you like hauling oil? What kind of things entail that kind of work, as a trucker??

Smart move going right into tanker or flatbed. Tanker is easy money and good annual pay $55K-$65K.

These companies hire new CDL graduates:
Get a TWIC card for tanker work.
    Google for nearest TWIC office.

    Schneider tanker division
    Superior Carriers
    CTL Transportation
    SVTN
