If you want to come to Prime after earning your CDL, give recruiting a call before you shell out money to the school, and make sure that the school is one that they are happy with.
JB... you going to be around the yard tomorrow or Sunday? Headin' in to get some work done on the tractor.

Thanks IP, you have been my other main source of Prime learning/info next to JB. I have learned quite a bit from the two of you, and much appreciate your sharing of your experiences. Like you, I may very well go the L/O route when I am ready, but certainly not in my first 6 months, as I would like to build up some cash reserves first. I don't have a family, and have the option of being home/rent/mortgage free, plus being a vegetarian (no truck stop meals) I can save and invest a nice chunk of my earnings. Once my lease concluded, I might just go O/O and then will be limited only by my own ingenuity...lol (I "pretend"/practice on the load boards sometimes). With Primes pay, I would even be okay with staying on a as a company driver for a while, maybe become a trainer at some point. One step at a time anyway. Prime is on the "list" at Southwest (school), and I will certainly be calling them for verification, as Mike the Southwest recruiter (and yourself) suggested when he handed me the paper application for them. Thank you for caring enough to take the time to advise on that. I feel like my Prime "seniors" are already looking out for me. Since a grant will be paying for my schooling, I have no out of pocket expense, which is nice. If Prime for any reason doesn't find me as a match, I will possibly head down to the Midland, TX area and see what the oilfield there may have in store for me. I don't think at this point I would go with an OTR company that pays .25 CPM or so. but I may consider Roehl as a possible alternative, need to research more, and perhaps there are other companies I am not aware of that pay a fair wage. Prime sort of sets the standard high with that .41 CPM (LW) pay. Guess I will have to see what the universe has in store for me. Safe travels, Doc

J.B. in my wondering around the site an other places i have seen that some company"s have a dog, companion policy, does Prime?, and if so what are the criteria?.
-
Yes, but you have to pay a hefty deposit. And no velociraptors.
-
Good to know, if you know, how do they work that out, up front or weekly out of salary?. Side note; good to see you do have a sense of humor, got a laugh out"a that one. So i guess my T-Rex would be ok.

It's a pretty huge deposit, $1000, I think. $300 or so up front. You'd have to clarify with someone who knows for sure, or ask your recruiter.

So J.B., i have confirmed that i am on the list for the w.i.a. grant, and pushing them for Jan. 20th, witch is the next class start date. If all goes well i should have that A license in hand by the end of March, and can start looking for a job, in regards to that. I have some other issue"s that i would rather not discus in a open forum, maybe i could P.M. you when i get to that point.
HauntedSchizo19 Thanks this. -
So I.P. i gather you are a Bronco"s fan? just guessing, could be wrong.
