Hardly. In fact, I took a few years off from trucking to become an IT professional, so your argument is null. All I'm saying is that, if it works for you, more power to you. Sure, I can see where, in some cases, it could be seen seen as advantageous. However; I don't need someone doing my work for me. I do just fine with my computer-based logs, which are nothing more than digital paper logs.
I Just Heard That E-Logs Will Be Mandatory In 2015

wish I could get rid of elogs I mean dang Its down to the dang second and forces me off and on to speed so I can make my planned route just because I had to take and extra piss or got held up a bit longer than expected. Most my dang log violations have been less than two min (had one last week for 5 seconds) something never seen before with paper logs. there goes my extra 30 min power naps to refresh me if I get tired so I can make it to pre planned shut down.
Anyway They will not be able to make it mandatory without putting to many o/o out of business.heavyhaulerss and Rocks Thank this. -
my pay went DOWN 2 - 300 bucks.
i get more work done WITHOUT the dang box. and i, for one, AM GLAD TO HAVE IT GONE.
i don't like being told when to do my job. and i most defenitly don't like being told i need to log into the POS just to fire up my engine. or having to go PC just to take a OFF DUTY drive.
those things can KISS MY ARSE. they are more of a nuisance then those that use them care to admit. and a safety hazard.
it don't take me an hour to do my logs. on computer.heavyhaulerss, Rocks, SheepDog and 1 other person Thank this. -
I don't want a computer or anyone telling me I have to drive when I am tired or stop driving when I am wide awake. when I feel tired I nap. if not I work. going into the bunk for several hours staring at the walls cause a sys say's I must be tired & will sleep is just plain stupid. this e-log can make a driver drive when they are tired & go off duty when they will get no rest cause they are not sleepy. my body tells me when I am tired. no sys or comp can ever be more accurate than our own bodies on when we need rest.

I don't want no speed limit sign telling me to slow down to 20 mph in a school zone. I don't want no flashing lights on a bus telling me to stop. I don't want no stop light telling me when to go. I don't want no medical card. I don't want to renew my license when it expires. I don't want to pay my light bill or car note. I don't want no pen that uses blue ink. I don't want insurance on my car, truck, house, or family. I don't want to keep going on with this post.
Boop there's your sign. The Silent Partner Thanks this. -
The others, are choices you have that you can or can not do, like light bill, car notes, pen.
Insurance, medical cards, license renewal are for the PUBLICS safety
How again does E Logs make anything safer??Joetro, Boy Howdey, SheepDog and 3 others Thank this. -
Honestly, I'd venture to say it's just as much (if not more) of a compliance matter than a safety one. I don't really feel inclined to go through the CSA site and look at company log violations, but I'd be willing to bet that the companies with paper logs have more than the ones with electronic logs. There's going to be drivers who get in a hurry and forget to update their last duty status, etc. Now, with CSA2010 in effect, the impetus for that is shared by the company.
