Same thing happened to me only with another tractor. He pulled in right tight behind me to get into our yard and off the highway and I couldn't see him. He assumed that I would be pulling straight ahead but he was wrong. I backed u to go in the shop. He wasn't there when I got in the truck. I took out the hood, grill, air to air, rad...oh yeah it was a show right there in the yard. I would take the position that it was cars fault. I think you will be OK.
Backing incident. Utterly sick with myself.

Tell safety and the rest of the gang to take the damages oyt of your check for the next several checks at a hit of $50.00 - $100.00 that way the company isn;'t out anything, I don't think they are going to fire you, they will keep you and see what else happens, Like it was said, We have all done the same things and some even worse, Don't beat yourself up to much, my first trip out second time stopping to take my 10 I clipped the front of a tractor sitting out in the way, the company slapped my hand and said stop it! That was it, that hood was more then $1500.00 in damages but it was never reported on anything, just move on. Be safer next time.

I saw a driver completely total a truck while bobtailing on the yard. He was looking to the side and in front of him was a fire hydrant with 4 heavy steel protective pipes filled with concrete around the fire hydrant. When he bumped the pipes, he panicked and slammed the gas pedal to the floor and held it there. The tractor started lurching and bucking and got completely on top of the hydrant and 4 steel pipes. There was so much structural damage the company just wrote the truck off as a loss. Last time I saw that driver he was driving for a limo service at the airport.

Just stay cool, calm, and collective....No, it is not the end of the road for you. With a lot of companies it is just procedure to have sit at the pickle park til Monday's business hours start. You may have to take a drug test and all that good stuff, but I am sure you should be ok.....I think your punishment is just "you sitting a the pickle park all weekend hoping you still have a job and a future in trucking." It will all work out....

I once side swiped a car from the drivers door to the trunk while backing at a line haul job
but that's ok I didn't like the terminal mgr anyway lol -
Don't fret there's always limos. Heck even cabbie! -
If his/her company had a 90 day probation period. Then it's not going to be good, but this is not near as serious as the guy who rolled the truck. If you do lose your job. You will get a few more no's at first but you will have to lower your standards and drive for the crap companies, and hope their crappy equipment don't mess up your CSA to bad. @ my company you are responsible for the first 1,000 in damage in a preventable. No volunteering needed.
