Got a letter today being denied a driving job for a better qualified applicant

I was turned down by half the starter companies
because of 20 year old Dui's and drug pos
still found company to go to
years later with experirnce non of it matters

 

So they say.But many times companies turn down drivers because of too much exp.Werner has been known to do that.

 

Hey Man, don't get discouraged... I received not only one, BUT many, just like that. Thing is you have to pay the price and get into one of these big haulers and have some OTR experience... Or you can try my company, they might hire you. PM me if you interested....

Don't just right down their phone # out of their truck and apply... Dig them out on line, that way you know who they are and what are the requirements or qualifications.

 

Yes that would apply IF the service is used for credit, in this case it is not and no right exists for employment. You are mistaking consumer credit reporting companies (Equifax and TRW) for a private firm doing background checks for private employment.

Again it is good that the OP got a letter, a lot of them won't even send one out. Just keep applying to other companies.

 

You got denied because you're still in driver school.
The assumption that you could get hired into a trucking company that wouldn't screw you over, as a green horn, on a weekly basis is some pie in the sky ideals.

Pay your dues, we all did; it's your turn.

If you can, get with Prime; I like them because they have multiple options to try out, which is good when you're starting since you don't exactly know what's going to tickle your fancy. You could end up in Tanker, dry van, reefer or flatbed. No one knows, not even you. Their equipment is good, and equipped with APU's, the pay for newbies isn't bad and they have good basic options regarding sick time and home time.

Stay away from Endland, Swift and CRST.

How can a truck driver have too much experience? One would think that any and all trucking companies would want a truck driver with as much experience as possible, and then some.

Complete BS. There is no bill passed or being proposed in any state requiring a potential employer to give a reason for not hiring someone. (http://smallbusiness.chron.com/companies-give-reasons-didnt-hire-20141.html).

No one is entitled to a job and no employer needs to give a reason for not hiring someone. At least this company gave him a reason, someone else was more qualified, and as he is still a student that is not hard to believe.

Why would the Fair Credit Reporting Act come in to play? Nothing in the rejection notice he posted said anything about bad credit. It was just a polite form letter saying he didn't get the job.
