Speeding is speeding, no doubt about it. Your CDL is your job. I hated to see him go, but he can only blame himself.

Well, a little update on my situation, it looks like I'm in the clear - at least so far as getting terminated. Since my post regarding that, they've given me 3 loads, and now I'm on home time for my jury duty with a return to work date of Friday. So, if they were going to fire me for that accident, I don't think they'd keep having me run loads.

Maybe they're not as upset as I convinced myself they were. Or maybe I'm getting a bit of leeway since my "accidents" were more like very minor incidents and never involved any other vehicles. Who knows, I'm not going to question the mercy of the almighty Trucking Gods :)

I guess I have a few good things going for me... in my 15 months here I've never had a service failure. I passed a big level 1 inspection during CVSA. I don't throw fits when things don't work out well, and I have never once told either of my FMs that I refuse to do something. I stay out 4 weeks at a time, and I'm polite and respectful to all of our customers, regardless of how much I sometimes wanna punch them in the throat lol... even snagged a couple customer compliments by wearing my Maverick badge on their property.

Maybe my good points outweigh my minor incidents... after all, I've never hit anything while moving forward... :biggrin_2559:

I'm just gonna shut up, keep my head low, and maybe it'll all pass and I'll get to keep my job for awhile.

Definately. Maverick secures above and beyond dot minimum requirements. The drivers that attend orientation with experience are usually the ones that have some problems with the securement training.. its not that they don't know how to tighten a ratchet binder, they are so used to the way they have done it in the past, they get things mixed up about how maverick wants it secured. That or its their refusal to change the way they have been doing things for years so essentially, their attitude gets in the way

Two of my 32 students came over from tmc. Maverick does not require its experienced drivers to go out with an instructor but they can choose to do so and are not held to the 21 day minimum in the trainer truck, nor does the trainer get a student bonus. I've had other mavericks that came over experienced from other companies tell my students they wish they would've gone out with an instructor. Choice is yours.

I know razororange stated he wished he had gone out with a trainer. Has anyone heard from him since he has left? Hope he is doing well.
