    Hello,
    I just bought a 1998 International with a Detroit 60 12.7

It has several codes but no lights on, on the dash.

First and most important to me is ; Does this mean that the codes are history codes. I'm not familiar with how this code stuff in Semi tractors works. I have a lot of experience with OBD2 and up with Cars.

I was trying to set cruise and it wasn't working then tried the engine brake and it wasn't working so when I stopped I hit the momentary diag switch and got these codes
    in this order
    25 red stop engine light
the rest are from the amber warning light
    45
    44
    72
    72
    52
    53
    15
    43
    then it starts over.

    Thanks for any help...

    Thanks to both of you.
I got the code pdf before I posted Rebel, thanks for that.
It doesn't explain my question, at least not that I seen. If it does then please let me know what page. Thanks
My question is. (if there are codes but no lights on, on the dash. Are these codes history or inactive) or what.. lol

James are you absolute on this. I read somewhere that red meant shut down engine and yellow where just repair as soon as possible. It didn't explain any more then that though.

Also the only thing that flashes red is 25 which would mean that there are no active codes by James definition then. Correct?

Another thought... Can I or can I have the stored codes cleared then drive to see what may return.

    Thanks again for the help.

I'm pretty sure you have to have it cleared with dddl on laptop. But, don't worry about clearing them. You know what you have now so keep an eye on any other codes that might pop up. The ones that flash first are the most recent

You are correct, code 25 means no active codes. When there is fault detected, a code is logged and the status will be active which will turn on the Yellow "WARN" engine light, or the Red "STOP" engine light depending on which code is being detected. Once the ECM no longer detects the fault, the code changes to inactive status, the warnings lights turn off. The code will stay in the ECM memory until cleared. Detroit ECM will keep track of how many times it detects each fault and at the engine hours of the last fault. You do need a proper service tool such as a Prolink or laptop computer with Detroit diagnostic software to clear the codes. When you initiate the flash code sequence, any flash code in red is a currently active code, any flash code in yellow is just a logged inactive code. Honestly, I would just either ignore them and drive it, or get them cleared out and drive it. Unless you know the complete history of the engine those codes are basically meaningless now. They probably got logged years ago, then repaired, but just never cleared out, or got logged by accident such as unplugging something with the key still on. Either way, unless any lights are on now, nothing to worry about.

    smp440 Thanks this.
