hey i am starting Epes orientation Monday and checking into the Sleep Inn tomorrow. Can anyone share some insight on how long orientation is and how exactly are you paid for orientation. Also, what is a trainee typical pay while in training.

3-4 days classroom. You may or may not do a day out with a local driver on the Friday. Will get assigned a trainer and get in touch with him and make arrangements for the first trip out sometime Thursday/Friday and head out Sunday/Monday depending on what the trainer likes to run

Pay will vary depending on milage run and whether or not you take per diem. .25/mile on your trainers truck and it jumps to I believe .30 solo with 90 day increases to your first year. Haven't looked at the pay chart in awhile but that's pretty close if not exact

To add to what Flying posted, you don't get paid for orientation. But, on the bright side, you don't have to share a room with anybody.

how many times have I said it? lol always leave yourself an out and have an escape route.

roll up to the exit for final on a HV load today only to find the exit closed for construction and no way to get there from here. now that would have been something nice to update the directions with don't you think? considering it's obviously been closed for awhile.

trip planning newbies......always have an alternate route to get where you gotta go....you never know what's going to happen when it's time to get off the highway........as a result I knew where I was going to go and only ran about 3 miles out of the way to get there. and still on time.

student tested out yesterday and got his own truck. he did good wish they could all be like that one lol

Jacobson down in Jackson. first time i'd ever been in there not the best directions I've ever gotten.....they said the cons was the building with the 'available' sign in front of it but that wasn't even the right building. I have to wonder how some of the new guys ever find some of these places with some of the directions to some of them. the 90A is closed you have to go down to the 88 and loop back around to the frontage road and come back up from the other direction. relatively easy as far as those things go.......if the directions took you to the right building lol.....I saw as I passed on the way down to the next exit the building the directions said to go to was vacant......fortunately there were a few drop trailers at the right building so I could see it as I passed by. in the dark it might not have been so easy. student just called and that's his first good trip out solo......he had a short one to new bern and then had to sit for a live load after expecting a d/h.....he's got colonial heights to Jackson next so lucky for him I was able to explain it to him before he got there in the dark looking for it.

You know it's #### cold when you get up, get bundled up and get out to clean the salt off your windows......and the windex freezes on the window before you can get it wiped off lol. That's just #### cold.

Sometimes .10 extra just doesn't seem like enough to run up here.

and of course my last student called to ask about a customer and rub in the fact he was down in Florida. Knew I should have been a little harder on him lol
