I wasnt there and dont know what happened. I suspect the fatalities were occupants of 4 wheelers that were slammed repeatedly by pack riding drivers that were over driving the conditions at that time. yesterday in winnebego county Wi. there were 65 reported wrecks. It snowed a wopping 1", big deal.It was 5 deg. and slick as snot. Big deal, people absolutely refuse to slow down in winter weather. The mentallity of
"I know how to drive in this stuff" will eventually kill someone or yourself.

I do not know about Wisconsin for sure.

But, on this stretch of Indiana, the cars fly no matter what.

It is a heavy truck traffic area and highly unusual to see trucks in the hammer lane because of the high fines.

All involved were probably over the safe speed.

Yup that pretty much sums it up. Although there may have been truck driver fatalities. There were a few trucks in bad condition. I think the local news said there are five dead and when they say teams of coroners are on the scene it's never a good sign.

I blame it on the 14 hr rule. Many of those involved could/would have sat it out for awhile if the clock wasn't ticking all the time. I can't see how elogs would have made this any safer.

We had the same thing happen when I lived in Iowa, we were near I-35 in Northern Iowa, there would be whiteout snow storms and we'd have the CB to help if needed, we'd hear about wrecks and trucks running the speed limit with 10ft visibility, the state finally got tired of cleaning up accidents and now they have gates to lock the roads down.

If you can't see in the distance you need to stop at the speed you are driving, you need to park it, there's nothing in that trailer worth losing your life over.

    Bingo.

But as JFrog stated, the 14 is in the mind of all.

I see nothing that I ever haul is worth dying or wrecking for.

What I was about to say. That 14 hour clock is ticking, you can see it on Qualcomm in all mega carrier trucks, safety out of the window

This has nothing to do with the 14 hour rule, elogs or anything else related to trucking. It has everything to do with being freaking stupid. when conditions are bad you slow the hell down or even park and hold up till conditions improve, if that means your load is late and you miss out on some driving time so be it. Be a god #### responsible adult.
