Anybody know of a good company near either Jacksonville, FL or Austin, TX to start my tanking career at? I am willing to relocate as well so it does not have to exactly be in either of these two areas. I am a recent graduate of Roadmaster Driving school and am currently looking for my first company. I am a single guy 25 years old, no kids, not afraid of work and will basically make whatever truck I am driving my new home address. I want to stay over the road. See the country and of course make a good living doing it.

It was roadmaster, but they did not offer Tanker training. All I drove were dry vans. I don't mind driving dry vans to earn some experience, but I would rather skip that if there is a company that will train me out there.

Did you get the endorsements Tanker/double/ hazmat ? if not , try and get them before you get hired (that way you have the time to study and take the tests)

I got my tanker hazmat combo, but I did not get the doubles endorsement. My hazmat won't be valid for another month or so while TSA completes my background check though. What do I need the doubles endorsement for?

Once you get the hazmat you will be good to go. Tanker companies have their own tanker training during orientation, then you might run a few trips with a trainer. If you don't have TWIC, get that also. You need it for entering seaports, chemical plants, and some military bases. Google will show the nearest TWIC office. Similar to hazmat clearance; fingerprints, picture, fill out a couple of forms.

The person that was helping me get licensed told me to do all three. That way if opportunity happened by, I would be already do go for it. it an easy one and just passing on advice..

Thanks for all the info guys. Yeah I have been studying for my double triple endorsement, but did not take the test at the dmv. I was afraid of backing a double triple combination then I realized the handbook told me not to back it up lol. Whoops. When I get my Hazmat endorsement back I will take the double triple test. I am going to get my TWIC card tomorrow. Am I eligible for a TWIC badge even though I am not employed by a company or do I need to wait until I get a job rolling? Thanks for the info on Oakley too. I will submit an app there.
