I grossed an honest $173,000 last year in 2013. (44 weeks)

I pull a flatbed with my own authority working mostly with brokers.........

this includes 6 weeks OFF for vacation/home repairs AND 2 weeks off for truck maintenance

Some guys are barely making ends meet.
Some are barely making more than company drivers.

There are also drivers bringing home $100k a year or more after expenses.

    Lets compare something here......

Is it really worth working your tail off to gross $230-$250k per year as an independent? Think about it for a second

After your expenses.....Your down to $100-%110k.........Then your down to $70-$75k after honest taxes.....

    I'll gross $140-$180k per year..After expenses im down to about $70-$80k per year...Then after taxes..Im over $50k..

Im not sure its worth making that extra 20k per year to Kill myself...........

Being that I know what it takles to make $250k per year hauling "freight".........You gotta be working a minimum of 50 weeks in that year GROSSING over $5,000 a week..

Not many guys are grossing over $5k per week.......

Now, Working 50 weeks out of 52 weeks will take Luck with your equipment..........(keeping it DOT compliant)... No Delays whatsoever(Weather-customers etc) and a patient family

PLUS...The biggest fact of all... Its hard on the Body..It wears you out and without vacation time......Your in for a miserable life.

    Just the facts folks

Your asking the wrong questions about taxes. Every one pays different amounts based on a thousand different scenarios

If you didn't spend so much time in the truck stop blowing all your money on the lizards then maybe you would make more.

Gross means nothing, It is worthless when measuring success in any industry. I could make a million$ gross and still be bankrupt. Any time you see a trucking company advertising how much 'Gross$' you will make then they are hiding the real numbers.

Net, Net, Net, after everything is paid how much did you have left?
