Thats not great, but then dont haul into FL and then you dont need to deadhead or haul cheep out. I generally get 3+ going in, but it depends on who you deal with.

Nobody has to convince you to do anything. It doesn't help me get ahead by trying to do so.
And if you think Miami is the place where the money is at; I smile, give you a wink and a nod, saying "Tear it up, boy!"

I've got a scangauge to watch my fuel on different legs. First, you must calibrate to read correctly. It takes a few large fillups to get that done right.

I've found that 9mpg mt is doable when I drive 55 and the wind isn't blowing. Loaded, the range on legs has been from 3.9 to 8.9. There are many variables to sway along that range. I've learned a few things like heavy but aero loads use less fuel than light high profile or unaero equipment loads.

MrBeast [IMG] was trying to convince me that dead head is better, why cant I show him how wrong he is when he tries to do the same to me? No miami is not a great place to go, but if i find myself down there, my option for getting out is more profitable then MrBeast [IMG]'s option. MrBeast [IMG] was the one who gave the example deadheading out of miami, not me. I said FL in general, but i norm try to stay farther north....that being said, my point is a cheap load is better then no load.

I have one to whichis why i say max is around 9 not 10.5, especially for a truck that averages 5.3 loaded.

Likely he gets a rate that justified it meaning while you wasted time, fuel, and money hauling something below cost he went on to better paying freight and averaged the same or better. Can't speak for him but it's how I do it for the most part. Typically what you see with guys trying to cut deadhead is they will roll for lower rates and don't seem as aggressive. It hurts you in the big picture even if you think it's not.

Even a short deadhead, load and unload adds a day to any trip also.

Um, I never haul bellow cost, read my actual post. Now even if i did its more money then nothing. Th extra fuel is paid for by the load so thats not wasted. Money, I make more by hauling the load while you deadhead. Time? If i can find somthign on the way from a shipper i know wont bs me, it adds maybe an hour on each end.

Um no...how do you think local guys do 3+ loads a day. Find a shipper that gets you in and out and you wont add a day. Its all about time management.

When I was and O/O my son had talked me into buying a reefer. Prior to that I had always been a van man. Try your time management theories at food warehouses, wallyworlds and all the grocery store chains and report back to me.
