I just read through a thread about hair follical testing with a list of companies that do this. I am not nervous about passing one, however, I was just offered a job by CCC/Comcar and was curious if anyone here has any experience with them and if they require a hair sample? Thanks in advance.

    BTW, good or bad company?

Low pay starter company. It is what it is. Gotta start somewhere tho right? There are better paying options, even for newbies, if you research. Where do you live and do you have any experience? Looking for OTR or what? The more specifics you offer, the better folks can assist/direct you.

Thanks for the help. I've worked for an interstate moving company for 2 years now driving a DT466. I'm almost done with SAGE driving school so I can finally be legal with a Class A. I'm in Melbourne, Florida. I'm trying to stay away from OTR right now. Mainly seeking regional or local driving, preferably flatbed.

I am confused...If you are "...not nervous about passing one...", why are you worried about if they require a hair sample? Sounds contradicting to me.

What is ComCar offering? Local or Regional? Dry Van, Tank, or Flat? I think TMC might do some flat down here. Maybe Cypress also. Not sure if you need exp with them or not.

I onyl ask because I took a smoked about a year ago. One of the few times in my life I have and I've heard this new hair test goes back pretty far. Alot of the Cypress Flatbed jobs are up in JAX or Orlando. Thats 2-4 hours from me. CCC/Comcar asked if I had Tanker and Hazmat (doubles/trips, TWIC, and Tanker). Hazmat will come after I get the CDL. They have Regional and local available. I'm will to do anything my first year but coming from a moving background, I'd like to get into flatbed.

I'd do a search on the general web concerning the smoke. Should be able to find out about how long retained in hair. Hair testing is becoming quite common these days.

When you do your DOT physical and drug screen for Comcar, the nurse will ask for a hair sample. They want atleast 3 inches of hair which is suppose to be enough to test for drugs several months back. If you don't have enough hair, Comcar most likely will give you 6 weeks to grow enough hair to do hair test. The hair can come from scalp, face, or underarms.

Man, I'd try to find a job with anyone before I went to work for that company. Those guys make bottom feeders like swift look like a+ companies. I loaded 500, maybe even a thousand loads of cars over the years on their trucks, and I'd say atleast half of them I'd have to show the driver how to properly and legally secure a load. I wouldn't doubt if they single handedly caused the securement laws to be changed, they lost so #### many. As far as pay, not sure how they pay now but back then, those drivers were dirt poor. Guess you can't pay your drivers a living wage when you make 90 cents a mile bids. Seriously dude, you need to talk to some folks before you plan on working for them. There has got to be a better option.
