    Unless something's changed, they're on 70. They're open 24/7, 365.

Exactly, even though McElroy trucks normally run only Sunday through Friday, we are still a 24/7/365 operation (if you call Cuba, someone will always be there to answer). You are usually under load on the weekend, just off duty at home doing a restart.

    B_easy Thanks this.

So RevKev have you got a place for you and the wife? I went by one of the terminals (I guess) the other day around Decatur/Huntsville area. I always kinda look at numbers on the truck when I pass one. Thought about asking on cb but did not know if you ran one or not.

well im a student now and when I graduate im off to McElroy if your a new driver how do they work the 34 hour restart in ? I mean if you start driving late sunday night how are you eligible for a 34 hour restart Friday if it has not been 168 hours or does the restart start when you reach 70 hours the first time?

Here is the way it works at the company I work for best way to explain it is if you leave out on Sunday and get home on Friday evening you will be able to leave out again on Sunday with a fresh 70 hours. If by chance you don't get in until Saturday morning after 1am you can't leave out until Monday morning with a fresh 70 hours. Because of the 2 consecutive 1am - 5am periods. It is a screwed up situation. Thank you Government stupidity for that.

Basically if you want to leave on Sunday with a restart be in on Friday.

You cannot restart until 168 hours or more has passed since the beginning of your last reset. If you never had a reset (because you are new and never previously on the clock), then there is no issue. In any case, if you never hit 70 hours in 8 days, you don't have a problem as you can run on recap forever so long as you never hit 70 hours, but you do not have to hit 70 to restart. It's the other way around- once you do hit 70 hours in 8 days you must restart to get a fresh 70.

You will be logging while in Orientation and First Week, but you will not ever hit 70 hours. When you move on to training on the road with a Driver Trainer, you will be on e-logging and still not likely to hit 70 hours before you are home for the weekend. You do need to be careful to log your off time appropriately (whether sleeper or off-duty) to preserve your hours during the week. If you do not remember to change your status to Off Duty on Friday, the QC will show you On Duty-Not Driving all weekend!

Hey, brother! Yeah, we found a little place in Decatur. Were all set to close this coming Wednesday, but got an email this morning saying the closing has been pushed to the 18th...without even checking with us first. So, we are not happy about that as we've already arranged for time off. We'll see.

I'm in truck T-407, so definitely give me a shout if ya see me! Would love to meet up with ya sometime, have a cup of coffee!
