I have been living and working in South Korea for the last 8 years and traveled several other countries 12 years before that.
I have always kept a US mailing address and a Indiana drivers license. My wife is from the Philippines and has been a citizen for 1 1/2 yrs no license in the US.
I was thinking of doing background checks on both of us just to make sure there is nothing on there that is negative. But there are so many places that do checks and when I do a review on these companies they all seem to have a bad reputation.
I Googled best place for background checks and come up with the best 10 and they all seem to have bad reviews.
I don't mind spending a little money but I want to be able to check what the companies check.
I have no worries really but living out of the country for so long and my wife being a new citizen it makes me wonder.
And also last year the IRS sent me a letter in Spanish saying I owed $ 8000 dollars and needed to call them ASAP.
I told the guy that the letter was in Spanish and I only speak English does that send up any red flags ? Any way after explaining I live overseas and am tax exempt and do not live in New York where the filing took place he realized my identity had been stolen.
Anyway with all this I just want to be sure before I send any applications out. Seems like a lot of confusion just to do a background check on the 2 of us![]()

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

Hireright.com owns the DAC report therefore trucking companies are using Hireright for background checks so if they do not participate in adding comments to the DAC report they can still see what other trucking companies are saying about a driver.
dennisroc Thanks this. -

I'd be more worried about the identity theft.
Good luck

We are not drivers yet so no DAC but will they still have any info on our background.
Seems like i asked this same question before but still had trouble finding a company. -
That Problem is all solved I believe. Took a while with the IRS, all the guy on the phone wanted at first was to know when I was sending the money. Then after a while he seemed to understand what i was saying. It would make his job much easier if I would have just paid the 8k then he would be off the phone and back on break -
I did a search of thetruckersreport on Lexis Nexis and found 5 results.
a search on hireright and found 500 results. I would bet that at least 450 of those post are complaints about what hireright found on their background check. Find some other background checking services then search for those names on thetruckersreport.com.dennisroc Thanks this. -
Why havent you filed with ISP also for FLII? What is your ctizenship status? Rule of thumb....those who are concerned about backgrounds should be.
dennisroc Thanks this. -
You better pull your credit reports, to see if there are loans, credit cards, or other problems 'somebody' created for you.
I'm thinking you may have trouble getting normal companies to hire you, unless your 10 year work history is EASY to check.
(unless you were employed by a US Based corporation or entity)
Don't trust what truck driving school recruiters/salesmen tell you. They're selling truck driving school, not actual jobs.dennisroc Thanks this. -
Rule of thumb ........... I should be concerned ????? COME ON !!! I explained why I wanted to check my background. I have seen people on here that have said things popped up on back ground checks and driving records from years ago. I would hate to go apply and find something there I didn't know about.
You say I should be concerned as rule of thumb. REALLY ???
We are both US citizens and work on a US military base here in Korea. I work on military aircraft and have a secret security clearance.
I take your reply sort of as an insult but no biggie.
Have a great day.
