You might get on with a smaller company. I'm not sure where you live at but Sharkey transportation doesn't require sleep studies (at least when I worked there 4 months ago they didn't) might try them.

A lot of this is not the company it is the doctor who gives the physical (money racket). I had to go thru this and it is a pain in the wallet (money racket). They said that I only had a mild case but they needed me to go twice (money racket) to make sure they got it right. I don't think it even a requirement for the DOT physical but since doctors can't seem to find another way to make money they come up with all this stuff and then say well I just wouldn't feel right giving you a 2 year card since you are a big person (profiling).

Sounds like until I get the sleep study done, it's basically a crap shoot if I go to any other trucking companies depending on the doctor I see at their clinics. Kind of sucks that that they won't use my dot card from Virginia it's good for a year. Thanks for your response.

It does suck but their are a few companies that do not require the sleep test just have to figure them out. Schneider (if I am right) pays for a lot of the study or maybe all of it. You can check over on the Schneider thread that was started by deiselfuelonly and you can pm him. He should know the answer.

Schneider is very pro active when it comes to sleep apnea. They paid for 100% of it when I worked there. All supplies, the testing etc.

No it's not. It's been studied and documented multiple times by multiple places. People die from sleep apnea.

I think it is a money racket and I guess we will have to agree to disagree. As stated before they are only picking on doing this on overweight people. So yes I think it is a bunch of crap. When they start making everyone do it when they get or renew their physical card then I may think differently. It is not a DOT requirement yet.
