He may be back some day.Maybe a brk from trucking is all he needs.I've been at it for 11 yrs and I hate it right now.So im looking for anything other then trk driving .It could be the boring van and reefer hauling what makes me tired of it too.So im also looking at local tankers companies.

I hear you, I also been on it for the past 11 years and done about everything except car hauling and dedicated heavy haul (which means I've done OS/OD many times)
still I've taken breaks but those breaks never lasted more than 3 months on a few ocassions. having a boss and being told what to do, how to dress, what not to say, and what times you work gets old extremely quick. tanks are not something I liked.

Whether he comes back to driving or not I have to give credit with getting out if he hated it so bad .
We have way to many people that hate their job and life and all they do is whine about it .

It is good to see that the OP was man enough to just pick up his toys and go home .
We need more that would do the same thing .

We all know trucking is not for everyone and there is no shame in not being able to hack it .

No matter what the reason if you do not like trucking just get out and leave it to those of us that love it !!

Once again good luck in what ever you do from here on I hope it makes you happy .
And thank you for doing more than just whining about it what a refreshing thing to see .

Back in the day and before my time in trucking ive heard it was fun.But now the ones that been at this for 20 plus yrs decided to call it quits because theyre sick of all the crap that goes along with this profession.Trucking is a very underpaid over stressed carreer and it doesn't have to be like that either.

Back in the day was not as much fun as some make it out to be , same low $ jobs , crappy trucks , poor attitudes without the joy of GPS to find yourself , Telecom devices to stay in touch with those that matter , lots of overstressed drivers back then as well

Right on! I remember back in 1992, prior to Qualcomm in the trucks and having a cell phone was a very expensive luxury. Today, you can sit in the cab of the truck and have a buffet of information, entertainment and communication tools at your finger tips. I am glad I gained a lot of experience prior to the Internet and cell phone revolution. Sort of like knowing how to do math versus using a calculator. :)

I think Billy Joel and I would agree:

"The good old days weren't really that good and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems. So I'm keepin' the Faith". I think the song has the same name. KTF. Been a while since I heard it. Good song.

'Scuse me y'all. It's time to Skype with my wife and kids - well they're not kids anymore. From a rest area. On a laptop. Eating a nice warm supper I cooked in my truck. Boy oh boy. There have been a lot of changes all around these past few years and my, my - they went by fast. Some great, some not so great. The way I figure it, it's like that no matter what you do in life. This sure beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, though. Whatever that means. Something my Grand Dad used to say when things were tough. Seems to fit. Least it does for me anyway.

I'm sure he is not the first driver who did a "rethink" the first time the trailer tried to pass them.
