Ok so today was my last day driving for Hobby Lobby. I only drove on sat and sun from Oklahoma City round trip each sat and sun. hobby Lobby has great trucks and are well maintained. Ok before someone says this is an Abilene thread and I agree. Today was my last day here. On Tue I fly to Richmond to start orientation for Abilene on Wed. Ok for my last day. I get up at 130 am to make sure I get to the yard and del in Dallas at 0700. Get the trailer on of the wheels brake won't release. They have maint shop open 7 days a week 24 hours a day except on sun from midnight till 6 am. So I had to call road service to help release the brake he pounds and backs off brake and there was salt, sand stuff the wouldn't let brake regales. So after the 90 minute wait for him to show up he gets it unstuck after 30 minutes. So now I got to inspect the tires they were all the way to he wire which means they have been dragging this trailer all over the place with the brake locked up. So can not call road. Service for tires and was finally told take the other trailer that's going to the same place. Now it's 6 am no way going 200 miles in an hour. So anyway go to dallas and get to store they actually unloaded quickly. I was like great go get a loaded trl and back to Okc to pack to go to Richmond. as I'm bob tailing to our other yard in dallas 7 miles away. I get selected for a full blown dot inspection which is ok. It's a brand new truck with 21800 miles on it. So after all is done no volition which is always good. So the dot goes to his SUV to get me my no violation paperwork .so he notices other trucks going down a back way and pulls out to go pulls these guys over and has them come back for inspection. Guess what he did this 4 times so I just sat here wondering if I'm ever going to get out of there. Well here's the kicker in his haste to get the other trucks pulled over he lost my drivers license he did find it after looking for 10 minutes. But I will say this there was three DOT officers and some of the drivers would actually try to argue with them. The dot guys keep there cool and was very professional. Not saying that cause I got no violations again I had a brand new truck. And I was bobtail. So after I'm done and driving I come up to a motorcycle wreck and delayed yet again. The thing about dot inspections is I've only been driving 8 years and have only had 2 dot inspections and mind you my first 3 years of driving I lived in NC. Both of my only two inspection were at the same scale house. Anyway looking forward to joining the Abilene team hope to meet everyone. the journey starts on Tuesday. Oh if your wondering why don't I drive for hobby lobby they only have teams. As for the issues today that was a very first in a year I've been there.

Getting ready to leave the house for my second drop. I got done in Miami with my first drop at 10am but wasn't able to leave until noon. I started my clock at 12:15 and hope to be done at my second drop in Deerfield Beach by 1am, that will give me enough time left over to drive home and end my day.

This ain't looking too good. I have a feeling I'll be spending the night 12 miles from the house at this publix dc. I have a labor intensive load that's got 3100 cases. 22 different items on 32 pallets that I'm quite sure will wind up being at least 65 pallets when done. I can't wait to see how much this deal is going to cost to unload.

Hey JB whenever I'm within an hour of the house my wife always comes to the truck and spends time with me until my 10 is up. It's nice just to snuggle with her. I don't work out that way but a very few times but when it does I enjoy it. Gotta finish up the packing. I fly to Richmond tomorrow so my Abilene adventure is about to begin.

Big Brin and I made it Remington Indiana before snow and sleet forced us to shut it down around 230 pm. He started off in West Virginia early and I took over in Ohio until we pulled into the Pilot in Remington. Been watching DVDs ever since. Nice to have a short day as both of us were coming off three week trips. The extra rest was sorely needed. Will head out around 4am to get our Hill Phoenix load to Chicago by 8. We are 114 miles away. Kinda glad it worked out this way. Otherwise we would stayed in Gary which in my book ranks right up there with Memphis. Good night fellow Abilenees. Yard Dart welcome to the fold!! Soljahboi, looking forward to you joining us. Freebird, we passed through your hometown today. Keep trying man. As Rebelchick said, we're frequently going up US 35 through Gallapolis. Living the dream, driving the Green for Abilene. Who's got it better than us? NOBODY!!

LOL! Sorry to laugh JB. But this reminds me of a thing I did 1 time only when I was first starting out.

Was 35 miles away at the same type of drop from my parents house. I just told them I would be back tomorrow and to take their time unloading. ( Strange looks for sure. ) Ma and Pa picked me up. Went home for a nice visit. Showed up the next afternoon and they were STILL unloading that darn truck!

No problem, I'm laughing myself. I had to pay $400 to unload this drop and $160 this morning at the first one. I'm glad someone's making money, compared to what I had to go through to get this load delivered, why should I make more? (Sarcasm) Now here I sit at 1:35am waiting on paperwork. I'm over this job right about now.

HP loads DO exist! LOL... I haven't seen one of those in awhile. Been on the LL loop lately. Heading back up to CT with one. I sent in a message yesterday asking in they legalized pot for the load planners in VA. Had a 2 drop Pella. First in Richmond at 0800 then Portsmouth at 1200. Got a load assignment at 1000 on my way to my second drop telling me I was available in Portsmouth at 0811 with a pickup at LL at 0830 and a delivery in Hartford at 0800 strict appt. hmmmm. Well that sounds like fun being I got to my second drop at 1130 and then didn't get over to LL til 1230 with 6 hours left on my clock. Stupid QC is not letting me split sleeper either. Yay
