You are doing very well then I would say. I was just doing some math about the cost of owning a truck (ownership only - repairs not included) - and you are at about 0.028 per mile (14,000/500,000mi). Compared to a new truck for $150,000 - that new truck would have to do 5,357,142 miles ... to cost 0.028/mi ... They just don't make them like they used to! Hopefully mine will do the same!

It's also very rare to buy a truck for that cheap and not have a catastrophic break down at some point. He's gotten lucky that's for sure. Hope it holds out!

True, but one could argue that if the frame is in good condition, you can replace engine/transmission/rear end for less than the cost of a new glider, and still avoid any emissions issues. The old engines are next to indestructible compared to modern "planet saving" garbage engines.

2000 FL classic, Detroit s60, no egr. Simple, works well, gets the job done and gets decent MPG doing it. Have paperwork that it has been rebuilt before I bought it. Oil samples still come back clean, I can't complain other than the look/ride of this truck.
