As mentioned earlier, sounds like you started before 5:00 on Sunday , which ruined your reset.

I run a similar schedule as you, so I run on recap hours and only use a reset when absolutely necessary ,, to avoid the problem you're having. Sometimes I get home sat AM, or leave Sunday , which can screw up my reset.

IMO, the easiest way to understand this (recap) is to buy a jj Keller log book at a truck stop, go to the inside front cover and fill in what your typical week is like. This shows your recap hours, just fill in the info , do the math and it will give you all the answers in a way that is easy to understand.

Your resets have to start no sooner than 7 days apart, and they have to include two periods between 1am and 5am (The FMCSA has decided its best to screw up your sleep patterns, it's "safer" that way. They apparently also don't want you to be too rested , so you can't have more than 1 reset in 7 days)

your elog should have an option to decline resets, if you choose to run on recap

The new reset laws require 2 periods of 0100-0500. This is most likely the issue. I run M-F and sometimes if I have to run a load Sunday I end up having to run re-capped hours. Which is not a big issue since I run somewhat local and am usually home before my 14 so have a few hours a day left so my 70 is never maxed.

Just have to watch your shut down and start times.

try day 9. you have 8 days to work 70 hours. recap happens on day 9.

i run laptop. i did a short 3 months on the box.

to the op. you have to go 168 hours from start to start. and like stated. 2 consecutive 1 a.m. - 5 a.m. it's no longer just a flat out 34 off duty. hasn't been since july.
i normally end on saturday and restart on monday. this week i ended on friday and left on sunday. i had the same amount of time off. but this week i'm running recap. becuase of the new stupid arse rules.

you are not doing anything wrong. you just need to learn why. the box knows what it's doing. it's not screwing you over.

"G-A" because I just ran local for a long time and didn't use logs. When I did go to logs I have been on something called paper were I just made 2 long lines at the top of the pages and I was good to go any time because we ALWAYS followed the rules. I got away from paper as dispatchers started taking advantage of it. So it's more of a electronic thing then anything . The company I was at before too kept track of HOS so all I had to do was draw nice straight lines and drive the truck.

anyways.... So on a Recap there is no way to run a full week because I will run out of time in the middle of the week and still have to take another 34?

just try to shut down before 1am after friday night and dont begin before 5am on Sunday, you will have Saturday 1-5am and Sunday 1-5am to complete that 34 every week.

had to do this several times during the christmas season since I ran almost always on recaps, if I had a load where I needed 6 hours and I had lets say 5 hours left then I began at 7pm and as I drove I caught that 6th hour at midnight and never had to stop.
