It may not be the plan but it IS an actuality and you can throw data around all the day long if you like. Joseph I know has had issues and so have I. To blame almost all the problems on Gov't regulations is a cop out, does that make them take several days?? Although as I said it wasn't just the maintenance itself that I had issues with but also people in the maintenance department who wanted to tell bald faced lies. I really don't want to go into specifics, I have written on this at length elsewhere in these forums.

Another reason I left is frankly, I do not believe these assurances that HTLND have given. I HAVE given it some time and decided that I do not want to work for Heartland. As I have stated time and time again through these forums these are MY PERSONAL OPINIONS AND OBSERVATIONS AND WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED AND WHAT I THINK, and also things that have come out of mouths of people regarding things like APU's particularly. Sorry, but if a company expects me to sleep in a state that has anti-idle laws and will not provide equipment to facilitate that then I really want no part in it.

As far as the reefer fleet goes like I and others have said there ARE miles not arguing that, but we have not seen ANYWHERE any plans on the part of HTLND to replace the aging reefer fleet which once again you do not address. These as I said are big reasons why I left Gordon, the issues I had last week were the icing on the cake and precipitated a speedy separation.

Once again, I will not and have never denigrated anyone on their choice of company and never will. I am not confident of Heartland's assurances that things will not change drastically which is the largest reason for my separation. Good luck to all who stay and I hope it works out for you.

Hearofatrucker... I think the riddle of your identity is company attorney.. I understand your interest in attempting to stop the bleeding of all the experienced drivers who have left and are in the process of leaving gti.

I have had access to information proving my point and I know heartland is concerned about it.

I left for simple reasons...money...

I told my dm when my miles dropped I was gone.. I went from running 12k a month to 7k a month my last 2 months.
that was enough for me.

your presence here today as when the last time you came here was a desperate attempt to save face..

facts are facts and heartland has a horrible reputation in the driver community. . One only gets that reputation by earning it.. plain and simple....

I would say more but I am busy on my new job and just taking lunch now... more later

ps...

if you really want to make heartland a great company.... change the name to Gordon Trucking and put Larry Gordon in charge....

FLATBED Thanks this.

I wish you well in your new endeavor. It's hard to find a good company; I hope your new one is one of them. Many are leaving this one.

I wonder what goes on during the DM teleconferences since the buyout...

What is the high temp setting that will allow the truck to idle for the A/C, since my APU isn't working, either...and I'm going into much warmer temperatures than in the Midwest.

NOT an attorney, lol. that was funny to me though. There is no riddle as to my identity, I already stated that I work in the office and have knowledge of many of the things going on. I don't have to come on here, if you prefer I not share my information I can stop. Thought some people might want it as a source of information.

Overall, both GTI and Heartland have grown their driver teams since the acquisition. GTI even moreso. I don't like to see anybody go, but by far most people have stayed and hopefully they will be rewarded with a future they can believe in. I respect the decision of those that have made a change. The combination is being well received among many who can see the vision of building the best company in the business. My attempt to communicate with you specifically isn't out of desparation of losing people, it is because I specifically got to know you guys a little better through this forum and in addition to the guys I have met in person, it is a little more personal with you. My only objective is to clear up facts that I have and can share as much as possible to be helpful.

On pay, you can slice it and dice it however you want. You can talk about miles, you can talk about short runs, long runs, higher pay per mile, lower pay per mile, practical miles vs. HHG miles, whatever topic you want. But at the end of the day when we compare the earnings of drivers per year on the W2's, The low, average, median, high W2 earnings of Heartland drivers was higher than that of GTI and most other carriers in the business. I'm not saying that to say Heartland is better, I'm making the point that in no way Heartland is going to drag down the pay of GTI drivers, if anything the combination is going to help both GTI and Heartland drivers by the end of this deal.

You can say that it all balances out and Heartland's higher pay per mile doesn't matter, but you can't argue with what the W2's say at the end of the year, and everything else is just an angle that someone is trying to play off on. Personally, I wouldn't want to have to drive the truck into the ground at a lower rate per mile just to make the same amount as someone who doesn't have to drive as many miles to make the same amount of money, especially with the heavier HOS regulations cranking down on productivity. But that is personal choice I guess.

Tow, you are a great guy in my opinion and I enjoy the perspective you bring. No intent to disagree with what you have shared. Just sharing my perspective.

Sitting in Eloy currently. It's not bad even without an APU. One of those 8" or so box fans to move the air is good enough.

But I have been out of the snow belt for a while now.
I think Victor already covered that LOL.
Vic's thread is too lengthy and too negative a vibe for a "Social" type thread.

New thread would be better.
