Will Millis even consider hiring at 21 if the applicant has great work ethic, clean record, and adequate work history? If so millis will be the first company I will go to. I don't think swift, cr, or tmc will hire at 21. I have a great deal of passion and heart for this industry and I'm not in it for the money, I understand it's a tough industry and isn't just a career, like most truckers say it's a lifestyle, my father drove otr for 22 years and I would go with him whenever I could, I want to do the same and help get the food on the shelves and be that droplet of water in an ocean of mechanics that makes this country run, I truly believe I can be a real benefit to any company that takes me. If Millis is that company I'm happy to work my tail off for them. Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

Great first post/question! Who cares about training, miles, pay, home time...etc. Those questions will come later. Got to be able to pass that drug test first :yes2557:

Hitman,Joel, thanks so much for such constructive replies.I have been taking vicodin for pain from an industrial accident I had two years ago.I've finally been released from doctors care to return to work.so I have many different pain killers in my follicles.all doctor prescribed!attitude not appreciated.I have been finding all I can about training, miles, pay.Hometime doesn't really apply to me because I lost everything I had because of my accident.Home will be in my truck with my wife.I guess jerks with attitudes are everywhere!

No sweat. If new comers to this industry need to ask that question, then chances are they recently used. Their best bet is to clean up their act first and wait a year or so.

Thats true and I agree, but maybe you should not make assumptions. Not all are drug abusers. You know what they say about assuming things.

First off that drug screen comment was for someone else, not me? I apologize if I offended anyone.

Sorry guys if I'm a little sensitive on this. It's been hell these last two years.I'm really looking forward to starting a new career after being in construction for the last 25 yrs.My accident destroyed my life.literally.I don't really want to get into the past with a new company about why I have so many different drugs in my hair.I have tried many because either they didn't work very good or I didn't like how they made me feel.I don't want to have a bullseye on my back because they might think that I abuse them or might abuse them.

Then why didn't you state this in the first place???? I apologize for rushing to judgement, but this question is asked many times per week, in the manner in which you used, for just about every trucking company out there. 9 times out of 10 if the answer is yes, we never hear from them again. And 9 times out of 10 they smoke pot. Again if you would have been up front from the start, I wouldn't have answered the way I did. Another tip if you are seriously considering the trucking industry....you need very thick skin. p.s tell Millis up front what your medication was and that it was prescribed...have some type of verification...and you shouldn't have a problem.
