Well as you know I still do work for GTI. I did A LOT of research on companies before I came here just to find out that we were bought out a week after I started. I have no idea if things are different expect what I read and hear from others

For the time being I will stay as I need the INS. I will keep my eyes open for other opportunities. I also was in 4 different shops in 4 days last week getting 7 things replaced or repaired. I do think that is kinda stupid. I also seen that the heartland shops are closed sooner than ours are and that I had to return to a heartland shop because they did not want to work after 5 for a 15 min. fix.

My question is if heartland wanted to make such a great company why wait till after they bought GTI?

    tow614 and chowick1966 Thank this.

Heartland is a great company. GTI was one of the few companies that would make a perfect fit to join together with Heartland. Both are top notch in customer service, focus on safety, quality of equipment, experienced drivers, good driver pay, and longevity of people working there. I think it has been said by many people already, everyone's experience with their company seems to be unique. What is the best company in one person's mind doesn't necessarily work for another person. But the fact that Heartland has grown from 16 drivers in 1978 to where they are today, and the huge number of experienced drivers who have been with the company for many many years speaks volumes. But anyway, my intent is not to defend Heartland on here, my purpose was to be a source of information, from a knowledgable source.

Hey! I admit to everything I can remember...and a bunch of things I can't. After all, I DID grow up in the '60's...I think. I also like the measured way you described your situation. I know my paychecks so far have been, let's call it, disappointing. So far, I haven't come close to making what I made in my last regional job, but money wasn't the primary reason for my change. But it is a factor I will be watching closely as HTLD takes more of the reins.

One statement about the HTLD/GTI relationship. I met a brand new, experienced GTI driver the other day at a shipper. We were both picking up shipments to different receivers and in the process of dropping and hooking, he mentioned that he worked for HLTD for almost 10 years and became disenchanted. He left and went to another company, and had been with GTI one day. I said, "Welcome back," in a lighthearted way. The look on his face wasn't one I would have expected from a new employee who, like me, came to Gordon after the buyout.

I've wondered each day what his look meant...

Which is why I am enjoying the heat while I stand on a corner in Winslow, Arizona. No fine sights to see, but I do like the temperature and the sun.

i only wish my APU worked...maybe my DM will let me run it by the TK in Grand Rapids on my way home. It could happen.

Good Luck with that DD. Last time my truck was there they had it for a week before it was "Fixed" 2 weeks later it crapped out again. I have been with out a working APU for almost 9 months. If you know when you will be back in town you can try to set up an appointment at TK. I have heard the turn around time is a bit faster if they know your coming.
