I'm a one truck operation (2009 pete 386 isx cm871) and I'm looking for the best and simplest way to hook up to the ecm on my truck to be able to read codes and fix issues. I'm very confused by all the equipment that nexiq has to offer. I'm only looking to work on my truck so no need for cat or detroit at this time. Would like to hear from people what they feel the best way to go is. Also if you could post a link to the correct nexiq equipment that would be great.
Thanks
Tom

Ok I just received an email that said one advantage of the nexiq is I can do abs as the inline is for engine only.

Nexiq seems to be easier to use with all manufactures, that is the one I would by. But, you do realize that the Nexiq is just the interface between the truck and your computer. You still need a laptop or computer with the engine software too.
tinys trucking Thanks this. -
yes I know I will still need the insite program. http://www.obd365.com/wholesale/nexiq-125032-usb-link-diesel-truck-diagnose-interface.html
this is what im looking at getting -
$399?
I had $1400 wrapped up in my system and sold it for a little less last year.
the problem isn't the interface but the program. Getting the codes (hacking or some sort of program that gives codes) to run the program is easy but something about paying for it and having the right support seems to make too much sense. -
CellNet and tinys trucking Thank this.

thank you. That's why there is such a difference price.

Ask you're local Pete dealer about getting Paccar ESA. We got last year and it was $800, but it came with a Nexiq USB link. You will find the ESA program useful for diagnosing your Pete's Namux gauge system. Then you'll have a Nexiq to use with other programs. Basically, for about the cost of a Nexiq, you'll also get ESA.
Another option is from the guy who make that post in the link above. He owns PFDiagnose, http://www.pocketfleetdiagnosticsolutions.com/ It's one of the cheaper, but better universal programs out there. It cannot do everything that Insite will do, but it'll do a lot of diagnostics stuff, plus ABS and more. Don will be honest with you about it's limitations so you can make a good decision. Plus, he gives really good support for his products.
Also http://www.apexinds.com/ can be trusted for genuine tools. -
i would use nexiq just make sure its not a knockoff!

I called a friend of mine that is a snap on dealer and he can get it new for 750.
