That's not nothing, that's decompressing/recovering.
You got the "traveling bone". Sounds like you need a hobby. Take up photography, golf, skydive, fish, hunt, get a pilot certificate.
OTR, what do you do on your "home time"?

Full day 1 (usually a Saturday), weather permitting (which by the time I get home I am SO ready it is almost always permitting. lol.) my wife and I play a leisurely round of golf and I enjoy a few cold brews on the back nine (she abstains and does the driving). Then day 2, since I've had MY day, it's whatever needs to be done (honeydo list) and whatever the rest of the Fam wants to do for play. Typical truck driver! Me first then them. Kidding. I'm just fortunate enough to have a family that appreciates what I go through and I respect the hardships on them to so I make a sincere effort to get everything done that needs doing and play at whatever THEY want to play at.

When my kids were young I pretty much gave up all my friends except two and spent the majority of my TAH with my kids. Now that they are grown I have renewed friendships and am quite active while at home. Besides from things like cutting grass, I play poker at least once during my TAH. I also get together with friends to watch football or the race. We go to the drag strip and when not doing all of that I belong to the local Shrine Club and there is usually something Shrine or other Masonic body related event to go to.
So if you find yourself bored or lonely during your TAH that is a you problem. Find a club, find a card game, buy an old car to wrench on and join a car club. There are a million things to do and a million friends to meet. The biggest problem is deciding which one to do. -
Put the Beer on Ice, Fire up the charcoal grill and wash/wax the Silverado. Most important, make a visit to my Dominatrix ! (Just Kidding..lol)
koncrete cowboy Thanks this. -
They hire DJ's for funerals ?????? i thought they just played "Lighter shade of pale" and said nice things that they never said when the Guest of Honor was alive

Hometime for me is no sleep because I have a million and 7 things to do when I get home.and alot of money spent. I dread it.

Day 1: Decompress and catch up with my wife...
Day 2: Catch up on paperwork, filing, and entering all of the deductible expenses from the run time. Work on getting the truck serviced and ready to roll again.
Day 3: Go have some fun.
Day 4: Get the truck ready...do any laundry that is outstanding, clean bedding, restock food supplies.
Day 5: Prepare myself to get back on the road.
Day 6: Start planning my next trips...
Day 7: Execute plan, quit gold-bricking and get back to work! -
Nothing @ all
Might hit up the hometown pizza joint.
If the locals are in need of a baseball umpire I'll go make a few bucks.
Getting hit in the face adds character and gets kinda addictive! Just keep those jaw shots rare. -
I come home. See my kids. Do laundry and whatever other business I need to do. Make a booty call then head back out.

Actually, its probably a little more common than you might realize. However, I didnt realize it either until I got into the mobile business & heard other DJs speak about it. I have only done one & actually it wasn't for a typical "funeral".. but a memorial service for a guy who was cremated. He was a Shriner(?) & his wife wanted a memorial for that group. I just played some old gospel standards before & during the ceremony.... easy money right there. Nothing hyper etc... just pay some music.
