I know McElroy doesn't require you to take a sleep apnea test unless your physical shows that you need one when I took my dot physical to get into driving school the doctor didn't ask or say anything about sleep apnea so if I take a dot physical at McElroy and they say I need the sleep apnea test does anyone know if I would have to pay for it or would McElroy pay for it

I would think you would have to pay for it. They can be expensive especially if they require you to stay overnight during a sleep test. Maybe 2 grand or more.

yea I know there expensive that is why I'm trying to find out I also have a chance to go with maverick if I want and they tell ya sleep apnea test is required but they pay for it I also wonder like if I went to McElroy and got sent home to go do a sleep apnea test would that go on my dac ? cause I have McElroy set up for march 24th and i can set maverick up for like the first week of april so if McElroy didn't work out I would still have a chance with maverick but would maverick find out i went to McElroy and got sent home for a sleep study ?

There bull, go some where else.they are not required. Just another way to get 700 or 800 out of your wallet.

I know it isn't required by the dot and McElroy doesn't require it but as a company policy maverick does it doesn't have anything to do with dot at maverick it is a company thing

Bring a copy of your long form physical that you already had taken before starting school. If you have not gained a lot of weight since then or have shown any significant changes to your health, it is a good chance the next doctor will not rush to judgement and seek to have a sleep study done. If by chance you end up needing to do a sleep study, then get set up with an at home sleep study. Much cheaper and tend to show more accurate results because you will be sleeping in your own bed.

It is the multi-page form the medical examiner fills out for your physical. Click the below link to show you what the long form physical looks like.

They are saying that they are working on making it a law that if you have sleep apena that you have to have a cpac machine. I know with Maverick when they do your physical that if your BMI is high or if you have big neck they will test you for it. If you have it they make you get a cpac or apac machine that they deduct $10 a week from your check for 27 weeks. Plus by the time you get back from your trainer truck you have to be 70% compliant or you get let go.

I saw a post from you on 2-26-2014 where you made this statement, "There bull, go some where else.they are not required. Just another way to get 700 or 800 out of your wallet." and have been researching comapanies because I don't want to deal with this. I am 6' and 310lbs but have great blood pressure and don't drink, smoke, chew or do anything bad other than eat bad stuff, that's my Achilles heel! So, being new to trucking in my early 40's, I am asking your opinion for a great paying company who takes rookies fresh out of school. I am a free agent as I went to TDI in Dallas, TX. I will also be running from Dallas. I tried to give you plenty of info to base your opinion on. Your thoughts oh great and wise one?
