Of the PSD students I had, 1 Could not walk and chew bubble gum at the same time, he also did not understand english very well. In a nut shell he could not shift a clutched vehicle, nor did he understand road signs and was a safety hazard, hence my tag line. Of course then when I took him back to Springfield he lied about his driving time. Fool did not realize everything is logged and tried to say he did not drive on the last day.
1 Got home sick after being on the truck for 1 day and had mommy, daddy and wifey send him a bus ticket from Amarillo, TX to home after I refused to turn around and take him back to Springfield.
1 Decided it was to much stress and to much work after 1 week and jumped off the truck while we were in Reno and caught a bus home.

Also I don't think not having Per-Diem is an option.

Thank you Highway.. That store of stuff really was what I was asking. You never really see the stories of people who have tried and failed and since there seems to be a pretty significant number of people who do fail I was curious as to what they we're doing wrong.

My class 2 Years ago started with 54 people there were 16 of us left at the end of the week
Funniest thing is the drug test they will tell you in class that morning if you have done anything in the last 90 days we will find it and if you have and can't furnish a prescription just don't come back to class after break well there were a couple that didn't come back and about half that did come back were gone the next day or so because of failed drug tests can ya say ####### and prime will not pay your return trip home if you lie about anything and get kicked from the program

That's crazy.. I just don't get how people even bother coming.. I mean Prime is very straight up about the requirements even regarding the physical.. Like in my case I had to push my orientation because I am desperately trying to drop my blood pressure a few points.. I just don't get how people are not smart enough to know themselves and know the requirements to that extreme of losing more then half the class each week.

I'm here this week. Last day of orientation is tomorrow.

My class started with 97 students, we are down to about half as of today. We will likely loose another half tomorrow to end up with 1/4 of the starting class.

The most common reasons people are going home tend to relate to health. Blood pressure, recent surgery with not enough paperwork to not be a liability to Prime, and poor vision. Prime will direct, and even take you to a local optometrist if you need glasses. If you've had recent surgery or any type of health issue REMEMBER to bring ALL of your paperwork. ASK TONS OF QUESTIONS to be sure that you have what you need BEFORE you get here. Doctor's/Attorney's offices are busy and will sometimes make you wait upwards of 30 days to fax paperwork of a work release type.

There have been a number of students who could not pass the CDL Permit Exam, thus far. They have two more chances tomorrow. If you don't have your permit prior to arriving you will be BUSY and a little behind. I didn't, and I barely got all of my sim time in.

One lady lied about her MVR, a guy had a fake birth cert... more than a few simply disappeared between classes for various unknown reasons.

Don't come here to make buddies, come here to gain a skill and a career. I recommend keeping to yourself, a bit. Don't go hang out in the Driver's Lounge all night and watch sports. Don't spend 4 hours a day on your phone with your girl/guy back home. Don't be loud and annoying in the excessively long lines in which you WILL be waiting.

Remember that you are a REPRESENTATIVE of Prime while you are here. Everyone in town knows who you are here with and WILL complain to the company or campus security if you are annoying, profane, or unprofessional in any way. You will be wearing a company badge and the Springfield folks at Walmart, the DMV, the restaurants ALL know a Prime student when they see one (badge or not.)

    BRING YOUR PATIENCE.

Correct. Patience is a key tool in every driver's bag.

Dodger, you start at 36 cpm, with a 5 cpm lightweight bonus and the potential for a northeast region bonus and a scaling fuel bonus.

You are paid at about 33 or 34 cpm taxable, and like 8 cpm non taxable. This is a federal tax benefit for traveling workers; in most cases, your food costs, which the travel allowance is meant for, will not rate enough to offset your taxes at the end of the year if you write them off. By not taxing them, you get the write off benefits on the front end, while also ostensibly saving PRIME on FICA.

This is ultimately a good thing, it does not screw you- you just need to understand it.

That was a #### good explanation sir. And anyways I'm not overly worried about it with as little as I will make my first year driving a truck it will drop me a tax bracket and I'm sure my 3 kids will be a more then sufficient write off. I wish I was going to get..41 per mile by the way lol. I'm set up to go flatbed and I'll be out of Utah... Being from California and all. I wouldnt complain if I never see anything East of the Mississippi atleast in a truck lol. I know I will probably end up there but a long time ago I swore up and down after my stay in Great Mistakes, Illinois that I would never go back. Lol

You WILL be paid everything that they promised. If flatbed starting is 41-cpm, then that is EXACTLY what you will get. They designate whatever portion of it as per diem that they use... say 8-cpm. YOU WILL STILL BE PAID 41-CPM!!! (or whatever the rate is for flatbedders) 33-cpm will be taxed, 8-cpm won't be taxed. 33+8=41 ... get it?

At the end of the year if you can itemize then you will be able to claim the federal per diem deduction. This year it is 80% of $59 per day for each day you are away from your tax home. Since the company is paying you partially in per diem, you will be able to claim the full federal per diem deduction you are entitled to less the portion of your pay that is paid in per diem.

That oughta be as clear as mud! LOL!
