I've "dove-tailed" twice. If you're at a company with a seniority based driver board, it means transferring to another terminal while keeping your seniority rank at the new terminal. It generally happens when service territories are changed, line-haul lanes are shifted, or two terminals are merged. It's happened a lot in the last few years with most of the big ltl carriers.
Here an end-tail is a voluntary transfer to another terminal when there is no shift in freight. At this company you don't need to resign so you keep your pay rate and vacation but you go to the bottom of the seniority board. -
