Depends on the country, Ireland works out roughly $10 a gallon, some countries more expensive, some a little cheaper, it's much better be an owner operator in the US, it's almost impossible in Europe nowadays, hours regulations and fuel prices mean a small guy can't compete with big fleets who can change drivers and buy fuel in bulk so they can enjoy massive discounts, same thing with shipping

there is something else very bad in europe

this are road assistance´s , few days ago one young guy only 20year old from my forum was beaten in very "civilised" netherlands by guys from road assistances

he had a flat tire on highway policeman stop and call road service they did not allow him to change tire because it is dangerous on road , instead they call for road assistance ,and say they will escort him to parking where it will be safe free of charge. when they arrive they change tire and call him to their company for bill, when he get there they give him "bill"-piece of paper not real bill with sum over 1500€ for change tire ( his spare tire) he say hew dont have money and do they accept visa, master, american , they say no , than he called his company to pay but as it was late he could not get this money ......now to make this shorter they beat him , took truck , mobile phone keys at end he had to pay over 2000€ for this , he called police police did not help him but walk away after talk with those guys

if something like this happened here they would call us animals

things like this are happening in many european countries and everyone are quiet about it , in case if truck inspection find something is not good on truck they call for some service which than charge you ....there was example on my forum truck was new and trailer air plug did not had plastic cover ( you know those yellow and red ones) they say he had to change this and charge 1000€, this is why we need to change trucks every 350-400k milles

Hi. I think fuel is sold by the imperial gallon. I don't know exactly the conversion but, I think it's 1 imperial gallon to 1.2 US gallons.

I think around $8.44 per US Gallon. (as per what I read)

    That being said.

Yes you're right of course, I'd forgotten about that, still it's twice the price and even more expensive in some places

Yet I am looking to move away. Many Europeans moving here , particularly German , Dutch and Austrian. There is still opportunity if you are entrepreneurial but government is extremely competent at destroying all that is positive.

Half my immediate family have moved to the USA in the last few years.
I also have a fair amount of cousins in New Zealand.
They are all trying to convince me to come their way.
I am trying to decide but mostly it depends on some business ideas and how they work out.
Plans of men and mice sort of thing.
