Do you condone violating the FMCSA rules?
http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/administration/fmcsr/fmcsrruletext.aspx?reg=392.3
Been in the rules since 1970.
392.3
No driver shall operate a commercial motor vehicle, and a motor carrier shall not require or permit a driver to operate a commercial motor vehicle, while the driver's ability or alertness is so impaired, or so likely to become impaired, through fatigue, illness, or any other cause, as to make it unsafe for him/her to begin or continue to operate the commercial motor vehicle. However, in a case of grave emergency where the hazard to occupants of the commercial motor vehicle or other users of the highway would be increased by compliance with this section, the driver may continue to operate the commercial motor vehicle to the nearest place at which that hazard is removed. You cant bust someone if they are doing the right thing to begin with.pattyj and truckerdave1970 Thank this. -
But unfortunately, meat haulers do have to mostly run at night, and as one who has run night time linehaul before I can tell you that it isn't for everyone. -
Frankly, I am ashamed that drivers are willing to be so quick to bust another driver's gonads for doing the right thing by trying to expose the dirty, underhanded tactics employed by almost every motor carrier!!!GabeScott, KE5WDP, Voyager1968 and 2 others Thank this. -
Abe doesn't make it a habit to refuse loads so I would have cut him some slack. If you're tired you're tired.Dispatch found a swap right away and that's what they should have done at the beginning of the conversation. You heard the words dispatched used which was uncalled for.Sometimes in this industry you're body tells you I can't go any futher. He did the right thing. No load is worth kissing dispatches back side,no load at all.
truckerdave1970 and sevenmph Thank this. -
