Somethings never change. At least now there are laws to protect you and the general driving public. No one mentioned the fact that driving tired has long term detrimental health effects besides short term if you get caught. There's an old saying in the Industry. You can't deliver the load if your tiz up in the ditch. Just say no! They might not like it but they will respect you. Trust me I've been there. It's your license do you think they give a rats %$# about your lively hood or your family back home depending on you.

Does'nt matter,we wasn't there.Only Abe knows how tired he really was.Do you think it was right what his dispatcher said to him?Do you think its right kb called the cops on him?KB knew he was going to bed while waiting for the swap.Do you not know the laws pertaining to fitique drivers?Everyday somewhere some driver gets in a wreck from driving tired with the same situation Abe had. Many accidents an innocent family is killed from a tired trucker.Companies knows all the laws and if they can't obey them while running the business and still make money then they need to close up shop.

The video needs to wind up DOT's hands. Abe, line yourself up another job and move on.

A lot of good the laws do when no one follows them. Then it turns out to be a long drawn out battle with the courts, meanwhile the companies are still operating unsafely.

This is an unnecessary regulation! The rules that are on the books now already make it a crime to coerce drivers to operate in violation of motor carrier regulations.

I don't know about you, but I didn't come equipped from the factory with an on/off switch so I can just shut down and sleep on command and then wake up, ready to go the instant some egghead dispatcher says to! Why is that, you ask?

BECAUSE CONTRARY TO POPULAR DISPATCH POLICY, I AM NOT A MACHINE!!!

It's drivers like you that give the professionals a bad name.

It's drivers like you that keep drivers from organizing to fight back against the insane, tyrannical behavior of these companies!

It's drivers like you that are going to kill someone before you figure out that the point Abe and the rest of the professionals out there are trying to make!!!

I just fail to understand why you and your ilk can't get it! You are so "gung-ho, macho, Billy-Big-Rigger". Look up the statistics. People at your level of experience may have fewer accidents by numbers, but when you do, people wind up DEAD!!!

    FATIGUE KILLS!!!
YOU CAN'T DENY THAT. THE MAN SAYS HE WAS TIRED, CONVERSATION OVER!!!
ANYONE WHO TRIES TO FORCE HIM TO DRIVE IS WRONG!!!

Patty, keep up the good work! Please, send this example to OOIDA. I can PM you the email address of one of the editors, if you like.

I just noticed this on Abe's YOUTUBE video intro:

    Published on Feb 28, 2014
This video was posted to educate people to what happens in the trucking industry. I was beginning to fall asleep behind the wheel of my tractor trailer loaded with produce when I decided to pull over for sleep and call my company to inform them that I was unsafe to continue driving.

He was NOT loaded with MEAT!!!
    Let me type that again:
HE WAS NOT LOADED WITH MEAT!!!

    drvrtech77 Thanks this.
