Thank you flatbedPete
I wish that there were others like you doing some-thing for this cause instead of just adding to the problem and I understand that there are those that feel the need to continue to work but I only have 1 question about those people and I'm not comeing down on them or say'n they are wrong for doing what they are doing . But if they are only 1 flat tire or 1 breakdown from being out of bussiness then what are they doing still working ??? Take your equipment home n park it instead of it breaking down 1000 miles from home some-where and you or it have no way to get home ??? Get in a company truck for awhile n ride these hard times out (as much as I hate to say it !!!) !!! That will keep food on the table n a roof over your head . If there is some-thing you can do to help the cause n effort that the rest of us are try'n to get done then that would be a real help !! Run at a lot slower road speed log all your on duty time as on duty time !!! Be 100% legal and take the hours off that your suppost to ect ect ect !!! If it's convient when your passing another truck drag your feet and cause a slow-down of the traffic ect ect ect . You would not be doing anything wrong or illeagal but would still be helping the effort !!! If I had a place that would hold a few trucks I'd be doing the same thing as you flatbedPete !!! I'll be in Martinsville ILL at the house with the wife !!!
It's time for a strike!

I like you post and thank's ..... -
I have an obligation to my family and my employer. I agreed to drive for what I am being paid. It is their truck and they pick up all tabs. Who am I to protest with their equpment? They have kept their end of the deal. I need to keep mine. I am under forced dispatch. I do not get to pick and choose which runs I take. I understand the viewpoints and concerns of others. When it comes to drivers threateing other drivers you are no better than a communist or a dictator. If it does not agree with your viewpoint it is wrong? Hmmm, You talk about America, but yet in the same breath want to force everyone to go along with what you think is best. Somehow that does not sound like freedom to me. -
NoTarps
I still do not understand the reference to you as being a scab driver.
How many of these O/O that are accusing you of this would have honored a strike by the big guys?
Most of them continued to haul the freight then because they were not union.
Now, they are referring to company drivers as scabs. It makes no sense.
By the way, I am an O/O, the fuel comes from my pocket, the repairs from my pocket.
I see no reason to refer to company drivers in such a derogatory manner. -
NoTarps4Me, let me first say, this is Pete's wife and I am only speaking for myself in this post.
You seem to have your life all sewn up and everything is in a neat little package being a company driver, if that is working for you thats fine, but for us O/O's it's NOT. If everything is all rosy in your world why are you here in this forum? You want to keep up on the industry news, right? Well then, read, be informed and move along. If you are not part of the solution, you are a part of the problem. You aren't in our shoes and if you aren't here to support us and what we are trying to accomplish then please don't waste our time and the board owners bandwidth telling us how stupid we are (fine, you didn't say it in those exact words but anyone would say thats the message you are putting out). Go back to your life and family and company driver job and leave us to do what we think is going to best serve us. We'll have enough politicians, know-it-alls and nay-sayers dumping on us soon enough, we don't need it from other drivers who have all the answers because everything is peaceful in their little corner of the world. -

All that NoTarps is suggesting is that a strike MIGHT not do any good, unless it is properly organized. All O/O's should know and understand that a company driver is not going to risk his/her job, income, and lifestyle. Knowing a little about NoTarps, I can assure you that his life is not all rosy, as you mis-stated. We're all working class Americans who are doing the best we can do to provide for ourselves and our families.
Being rude and insulting is doing nothing but making you look like a fool.
I completely agree that something needs to be done, but it needs to be meticulously planned out and thought through. All avenues need to be covered. To be truthful, while striking may gather some attention, without organization that attention won't net the results being sought out by most strikers.

There is a thread called strike won't work. Go and post there. That is where you can take all the pent up frustrations you have there. This thread is for a strike, this is for the people who believe it is time and who wish to get our ideas out and organize. Now this isn't the wife, and I am calm at this point. Don't start with me, just respect my wishes. If you want to go and bash, degrade, make fun of or what ever on our thoughts and efforts, please do it in the correct forum section. We would appreciate that. I have nothing further to say, and would like this ended.
