Sadwar, how are loads out west, if say a person wanted to run west of a hypothetical line running north - south along the eastern border of ND south to the eastern border of Tx, would it be possible to stay busy and make money running choice.

    thx

Whoa....if any of these are all true, my planning to become a driver on the Choice program may have just ended in an instant. Or do these things apply only to trucks acquired through Schneider Finance? I was thinking of buying a truck before I got there.

...or is my leg being pulled??:biggrin_2552:

I don't think any of the I/C's would put up with that:biggrin_25512: I did hear through a very reliable source that there was talk of fitting the brand new(2015) company trucks with a forward facing one that activates like the dreaded red triangle on the qualcomm though

I believe you can make money anywhere on choice. After my trip to Florida I am finally headed home to LA for the first time. Then I plan to run around out west for awhile. I have checked out the load board for a lot of areas and you can always find good loads. Exception being Denver, low paying loads coming out of there. And Florida back out. Might be more, haven't checked every single city.
My experience so far is if you don't care where you go, you can make plenty of money. Once you start trying to go to a certain area or try to stay in a certain area you become more limited obviously. But if you are limiting yourself to the western half of the country, you should be fine. Eastern Texas alone is a great area.

Why would anyone be on Choice if you couldn't do what you wanted, right? Would be same as being a company driver. Luckily none of this is true. Love the freedom, complete 180 from being a company driver.

They have already installed the lane departure camera in the new Intermodal trucks. At first they said we are testing it and will not be using it for critical event reporting....it was believed until someone in GB called down to Atlanta and said....this driver has 43 lane departures in 1 week whats going on? The driver of that particular truck has been with SNI for a very long time and he says that when the white line disappears or when there is a lot of tar on the roads to fill in the cracks, the camera picks that up and calls it a lane departure.

Not only are they moving forward with that technology, they are switching to single drive axle trucks. They still have a tandem set of axles but one of them is merely a tag axle. These have already been put into service in company owned Van Truckload tractors and Intermodal tractors. They have a big problem however. They cannot manage to not get stuck. So it looks like SNI will be spending the fuel mileage savings on tow bills for drivers being stuck. That stinks for the drivers though, stuck needs tow, is a preventable accident and automatically disqualifies the driver for bonus payout that quarter.

About 1.5 miles south on 17K, the road in front if the ts. Past the Stewart airport by I-87. Easy walk.
