You´d be surpirsed how Old School American some current ones are especially in Sweden for example.
So actually...who´s got the lack of imagination here... or something ;-)

Here's one "Red" Amick's in No. Indiana. Stopped there when my Scout troop was coming back from a 2 week canoe trip in Mn.

true - I have a list of my favorite haunts for dinner/lunch - non of them are chains...

There are also a slew of good non truckstop food stops that have truck parking - diners in PA not included...

Were Amick's racing trophies on display when you stopped there? I dropped my trailer at Amick's and bobtailed to watch racing at Winchester.

George Amick was killed in 1959 at Daytona during a USAC champ car event. Amick was fastest at 176 mph. Jim Rathmann won the first 100-miler, but just as he came across the finish line there was a crash in turn two. Amick crashed end-over-end in the Bowes Seal Fast Special. Marshall Teague had a fatal crash while testing for this race.

Spent a lot of time there and at the ##### tonk joint next door when I was leased to Getter. We had a 400 acre pipe yard just north of there.
