They will do that in the summer too. The wind that comes off that mountain range is insane. Good thing you're getting through now, there's a storm headed here.

Hey Joe I'm just wondering how do you deal with the issue of your company being in MN and you living in Pennsylvania? I take it you just take your truck home for home time?

If you live outside 100 miles of a terminal they let you take your truck home.

I just finished my first day of orientation at SEC. It was very laid back. Started at
0730,finished by 1600.Everybody I met that works there was very friendly. The
truck they assigned me is a nice Peterbuilt with only 206,000 miles on it. It even
has a fridge already installed in it. Much nicer than that crappy Prostar I just got
out of driving for Heartland. Unfortunately they said I will only have it for 5 or 6
weeks until they trade it in. They told me they have a bunch of new trucks that
are coming in by then. All in all I am impressed so far, I think I might be happy
driving here. Tomorrow finish up all the PW and take the road test. The shop will
install your CB, invertor or what ever else you want in the truck. They don't want
the drivers messing around with the wiring on the truck. Pretty smart idea, that
way you don't get in a truck that's all torn up by some other driver-everything
works. This company runs about 160 trucks so your not just another number if
you work here. If the miles are good and they get me home when I need to be
there I think I will be here for a long while...

I never thought I would see the day 1 driver would boast to others about a truck that could do the speed limit.

I hate to break it to you air breeze but that is 1,206,000 miles. ..lol

those pete's were mothballed but they are using them for now until new ones get here. They are well maintained though.

After a few weeks your dm will offer you one of the current cascadias should one come open.

like you, I plan on being here for a while but I also planned on retiring at gordon but they sold to heartland. For now I am happy the way things are but with trucking... things change... just enjoy the ride while it lasts and should it turn for the worse just move on to the next rodeo....

Ya I guess your right about the milage. It did seem kinda odd they where getting
rid of a truck with only 206,000 miles on it. LOL It fired up ok but I wont know how it
runs until I hit the road with it. The only bad news was the guy who runs the shop
told me some of the new trucks they are getting are Prostars. In my experience
with the Prostars they are pieces of junk. They break down frequently and they
have cramped interiors, not very comfortable. Like driving a big pickup truck.
