Werner Driver with a ??

sounds like you didnt have a knowledgeable trainer. or maybe he just didnt care.

mine comes unglued if I forget either and has a mini-tirade about it for 5 minutes about why you have to do it and what happens if you dont.

 

you dont have to log a pretrip if you loging postrip,think about it when you park for the night the truck is not running or moving so postrip is the same as pretrip.another tip,if you can try to take your break at the receiver or the shipper cause the clock wont start til the truck is moving,first i call the customer and ask if night parking is allowed if not i look for walmart,home depot,lowes,target or kmart close by,download truckpath app on my smartphone it shows me every truckstop in the area and whether they have parking or not.if im not sure about a place i look it up on the map and switch to satellite view to c if its truck accesible.lot of drivers dont like driving at night but i mostly run at night,no traffic no dot no scales deliver first thing in the morning go to the shipper and start my break.

 

I work for werner.. and I have gotten warnings over the qualcomm for log violations... it show as a red circle with an. ! inside it... my first trainer got a couple of warnings which she ignored and got rojted to a terminal with a safety hold on her and had to take a class on logging. Qualcomm, and time management...

Whater ever miles and minutes you belive you are gaining now may cost you days down the road.. and, no you do t have to pay for the classes.. but you dont get.paid while taking them either...

 

Don't wait till Werner says something just start doing things the correct way.Alot of drivers are employed there but believe me,they will find out.

 

Where is it written you don't have to log pretrip if you log a post trip?Will you please direct me to that law.So if you don't log a pretrip and dot wants to see your logs,you don't think hes going to ask to see the pretrip.Just because you log a post does not mean something may not happen while you're on your brk.Maybe the tire goes flat maybe someone pulled the fifth wheel pin.Maybe a lite burns out,maybe leaks under the trk.Anything could happen while you're sleeping.

 

Werner policy is you do both a pretrip and a postrip... even if you did a thorough postrip.. under the hood, crawled under and around.. you still do a pre trip..

 

Pattyj... that is the thing.. when I take my motorcycle on a long trip.. I check it kver at the end of tne night after a lo g day of riding.. and I check it over again the next morning before I hop on and ride off... now there is no law or regulations saying I have to... It is just common sense....
Yet it trucking there are laws and regulations for drivers that say they must perform a pretrip and post trip... yet manh are too lazy or unprofessional to do so...

Then we have to move over to the left when they are on the side of the all befuddled...

 

I don't get it,why are drivers making up their own HOS.Alot of ppl ask questions on HOS which shows me their company does not teach them long enough or drivers don't ask questions,then whe they get out in the real world they have all kinds of problems.With the post trip,do you have to log 15 min or can that be done on line one?

 

no. its just doing a macro 46, fill out the form as necessary on the qualcomm and then hit send. change duty status to sleeper berth and call it a night. this doesnt show up on line 1, 2, 3 or 4. it just gets flagged as a macro.

your pre-trip is the one you change your duty status to reflect the pre-trip inspection. thats the one you should take 15 minutes to do and it should show up on Line 4 as "on duty - pre-trip inspection".

its not the company...its the TRAINERS. they are the ones supposed to be teaching this stuff to new students. previous drivers regardless of company should already know this to begin with.

Even at Iron mountain when i didnt have to do a logbook because of operating in a 100 mile radius...we still did a pre-trip and a post-trip inspection.
