Thanks bean. Yeah It's got me nervous. I'm just gonna make sure that when I go down there, I'm gonna have everything I need ready, and do everything to the best of my ability, and hope that they hire me. I'm not getting my hopes up as it seems somethings always seems to come up. Mav is going to call my employer tommorow, I'll have to ask Sherry our dispatcher what they said. She'll tell me, she loves me. She don't want me to go though.

i wouldn't worry kaydriver. from what you tell me your boss is a good guy. lol maybe we will be there at the same time!

Nah, I'm not worried, just curious as to what their asking them. I've been there for 4 years. Everythings good!

I'm looking at starting orientation with Maverick in about 8 weeks.I will be a recent grad from a school. Have drove prettymuch everything except a tractor trailer rig. I've been reading what a lot of you have to say and am really curious about what orientation consists of. I've been looking to see if anyone gave a detailed description but so far only that several don't make it through. Is this orientation or a testing time to decide if you can work for them? Can anyone tell me what to expect?

Check the thread in :Questions From New drivers: it's called Have to start somewhere by Daytona45. I think he covered oreintation in it, I can't remember though.
-
well kaydriver it is official. i will be at the oriention this sunday. do you know when you will go? i will arrive by dogbus on saturday at 10:40 AM. long trip on the bus. well hope to see you there!

Need to clarify, had my numbers wrong. There were about 25 total on the 1st day of my orientation, but 11 were experienced drivers. So the 9 I was talking about were out of 14 student drivers. Students are any driver that needs to spend some time with a trainer, no matter what past experience you might have.
Off the 5 we lost, 1 just decided it wasn't for him, 3 couldn't get med documents soon enough and one failed his road test.
They really refer to the 1st 4 days as a extended job interview. Besides meeting the requirements, they look for appearance, good attitude, paying attention, etc...If you meet all that, you get the job offer on Thursday. After that, there is additional training, but you really have to screw up to get bounced out.
Read the thread by Daytona45 Have To Start Somewhere, he covers the orientation pretty good. -
Good greif what state do you live in! You won't be seeing me there of course. Angie called me today and said everything was good to go. And then of course she told me to call her weekly to check in. Theres no telling when I'll get down there! I'm glad when I do go I won't have to ride a bus. My parents live in Bella Vista,AR so they can get me down there pretty quick. Do you have a laptop? I'm looking forward to hearing from you and JimF about your experiences down there.
