Say my 14 hour day is up and I park at a truck stop. I noticed there's a Waffle House 5 miles down the road, can I drop my trailer and drive to Waffle House and back and be ok or does truck need to stay parked and not moved?

    pretty sure its legal

    falls under "personal conveyance"

you may not even have to drop your trailer, i am not sure about that though

but its unhealthy, maybe even illegal to eat at waffle house

That depends on your company. But more times then not,no with elogs unless you're not under a load then they have a line 5 for personal conveyance.Best thing to do is park with in walking distance.

Depends on your company. Some companies do not let the company drivers use off duty drive. If you are an o/o then as long as you met the requirements to use off duty drive, then should be fine. The only I use off duty drive is when I am bobtailing to the house for hometime.

I think in order to use personal conveyance you have to be free of any loads.

its sad that we have allowed ourselves to be boxed in like this, that a grown man has to question if its legal for him to go out to eat

there really is no such thing as "off-duty"

I thought most truck stops would let you drop a trailer?

Lol I love Waffle House. I'm from kenosha so Waffle House is a treat to me. I like iron skillet so if my company don't allow me to I can eat there. They got some good pot roast. Anyone know if central refrigerated allows you to drive off duty?
