I've been gone from Roehl for a while now. Which Dan passed away? What happened?

We have a fuel discount from the pump that Pilot/J, TA/Petro, Loves gives. The company fuel discount program was taken way 2 years ago. We don't get any discount from R for the gal purchased like we use to.

I've only got about $500 in the maintenance account and I wouldn't use that for anything other than repairs. The security deposit will be used for the last 4 payments. What we are going to do is a promissory note. I'll keep you posted on how things continue to go.

So what you're saying is Roehl gets a discount on the pump price, but the o/o pays full pump price? Roehl makes money on the fuel the o/o's purchase?

No we get the discount at the pump. Loves and Pilot/J is 10 cents off the pump price. TA/Petro is 5 cents. The companies get discount from the big names for volume purchasing on all fuel purchased through the fuel cards issued by the company. That is the discount O/O use to get but it was discontinued 2 years ago. O/O continue to contribute gals into the company total but don't get any discount for it so Roehl gets fuel for less on it's company trucks.

Ahh ok. Any idea what the discount used to be when Roehl passed on their discount? I was under the assumption o/o's paid full pump price minus fsc.

We used to get Roehl's price which varied from station to station. It could be as little as $.02 a gallon, or as much as $.30 a gallon. They would give us suggested stations just like the company drivers and if you used those stations you knew you were getting Roehl's best price. Now it is a flat discount no matter what individual station you use. Like everything there is a positive and a negative. We have a better idea of what our fuel will cost ahead of time, but it is irritating to know if we fuel where Roehl is sending their company trucks we are probably getting screwed.

Since we get a flat discount the smart thing to do is fuel as much as possible in states with low fuel, but high taxes. Doing this I have many months where I actually get a credit on my fuel taxes. Also my fuel guage hasn't worked properly in years, so I just fill up about every 900-1000 miles. This practice has made my bottom line more predictable. Usually if I run 950 miles on a tank, about 40% or so of the revenue is used up in fuel and the rest comes to the truck.

    Scott72 Thanks this.
