    Thats accurate, my lowest was .17¢ highest was .41¢. But you wont know until you get your settlement. Thats a problem. My last company had a website that showed theyre discount at every major chain in all states in real-time. And they only had 300 trucks. Hard to think Covenant wouldnt do something similar.

    Lol, had a guy try to down me yesterday too.. I passed a guy going up hill, he had a fancy decked out KW so he was a master trucker by default... Gets on the cb and gives me crap about O/O working for these big companies and how do we make any money at .90cpm etc... I just laughed and told him its .80cpm! He really didnt like it when i told him he got passed by a Covenant pulling 44k going uphill! I love when i get to piss off guys that know everything! :)

    What's really funny is most of the independent's who would make a comment like that probably are making less per mile at 100% than you are after Covenant takes their cut off the top. Not to mention their costs are way higher. Wish Bill could work out a fuel discount like what you get for F2F trucks. We only get 7 cents off cash and a $1.50 swipe fee. That's the power of a 2,000 truck fleet versus 20. Those guys get all the breaks.

    A long while ago i heard there were co-op's of small companies banding together for better discounts. I really dont know how it works, but it might be worth checking in to. The company i leased to when i booked my own loads did this. It took my discounts from .05¢ to about .12-.15¢. This was right when fuel went up in 07/08. They all used EFS cards.

    Yea i probably do make more, but for me its the assumption that Im working for nothing and Im bringing the pay rates down. I'll never bash anyone for doing what they think is best for them. I will try to explain why this is better, but we all have to decide for ourselves. Im a guy that wants everyone to do well and make money. Just rubs me the wrong way when 'know it alls' talk out there fourth point of contact. I love my truck, it may not be the prettiest on the road, but it pulls like a clydesdale!

    Can't wait to meet you.

    Remember that Covenant isn't a big O/O company. They are geared towards keeping costs down for company trucks and that includes IFTA. Who knows, if we can get to 100 trucks in this division we can work on driving this effort.

    Glad to hear the rates and revenue are working. This is just the start. The more freight we move the better opportunities we will all see. And now I can start bidding on some of the better paying, longer mile loads because I know that I will have trucks to cover it.

    Hi Bill,

    I told my husband about the O/O opportunity with Covenant. Do you hire drivers that live in Colorado?

    We will work with drivers based in any state. But I will have an honest conversation with the driver about the realities of the market they live in. CO is a consumption state - they consume more than they produce so you always have an over supply of trucks. Upside is we can get a solid rate in but typically never equals out to be good on the round trip because carriers that have decent contracts never have problems covering the loads.

    So it is the choice of the O/O on how often the want to get home and if that will work knowing they will get less coming out.

    Let me chime in here also. We lived in Colorado and moved to Chattanooga last Fall. It is really hard to go home to Colorado often as it just kills financially. Consequently we found that we hardly ever went home. Now that we live in Tennessee where there is tons of freight we get home all the time while still making great money.

    As a real life example. At this moment (Sunday Morning) on Internet Truck Stop (a load board) I just did a search from Denver and a search from Chattanooga. Both for dry van within 100 miles going anywhere.

    Denver = 247 loads
    Chattanooga = 1597 loads

    Makes the math pretty simple. You can make it living in Colorado but you have to sacrifice either home time or income.
