First, I love Dr. Strangelove.

This is Numbers 32 : 23 But if you do not do so, then take note, you have sinned against the LORD; and be sure your sin will find you out.

Now the sermon. The HOS rules are so you do not have to work yourself to death for minimum wages. If your company has put you into a dangerous position by giving you a partner who has deserted you LET THE COMPANY KNOW.

You are in charge of your decisions. No one else can force you to drive or keep you from it. In an emergency all laws take second place to that emergency. If your wife is in labor you can speed to get her to the hospital. If you son has an emergency that you need to get home for then go. But you will have to answer for it if you get caught. If that emergency is less then life and death, you will lose in court. As a driver you are expected to know everything in advance. A driver is a PROFESSIONAL. We have to adapt to any and all condition out there. If your co driver had stayed with you, it could have been a mechanical breakdown that would have keep you from your son. This job is hard on family relationships. You will miss birthdays, weddings, holidays, and sporting events. But you will be able to pay for the children to go to a college if they choose so they will have a better life then we do. And isn't that the point?

Its a no-win situation. You're honest with the log books, then you run out of hours fast. Myself, I'm always in the sleeper berth when I'm loading/ unloading at the docks. On traffic delays due to accidents or construction, jot down your odometer when you approach traffic delay, jot down the reading again when traffic picks up, deduct the difference in mileage distance, divide that by 45 (your average speed through traffic delay), then record that as the time it took to pass through the traffic delay.

My body can't handle these E-logs. I typically run 650 miles before my black box tells me I'm tired and must stop. I'm typically awake for 6-8 more hours waiting to become tired and when it's done I'm short sleep or taking 16 hrs of layover. This Government nanny #### disgusts me.

    Hmmm, what to comment on?

The bypass of the word filter or the grammar?

I hear that.FMCSA knows so much about our sleep pattern. They think one size fits all law is the way to go.Seems like there are more accidents now then before.Companies think once your 10 hrs is over its time to roll even though you didn't get the right amount of sleep.Just because you are required to take a brk at a certain time does not mean you're tired. Then you try and get to sleep and can't.The next day you're dragging all that day.

To the OP. Stay away from scale houses. Go around or at night. WY is a time stamp you hit a port of entry. The log book can't be changed if they pull you in. Two log books idk. If I didn't have a time stamp on bol. I would back up book so I pu at 3 am as needed. I would average my speed at 65 for out west and 58 out east. But like others said a fuel stop or calling the shipper can trip you up. Also Kansas scales scan your DOT # and pull u in by it. My carrier had a decent safety score but not the best. State trooper pulled me in on it.
