If they are understaffed then remind them that they probably would rather you not go to another company and then tell them to stick their load. If they get you to go once they will expect you to go again.

I've been when I hauled boxed beef probably about 20-30 times mostly Hunts point and down in Manhattan on 14th street curbside delivery, I cringe at the idea of going there mainly for the fact that it's just a entire day often times just to get a simple drop done. If you don't wanna go don't, some nut will get the offer and make the company pay them more to take it, I do. I agree about Pittsburgh, horrible trucking area.

When you turn down an NYC load because you're "scared", don't forget to ask for the super absorbent tampons.

I once refused to deliver in New York. Thank God. So they sent me to Brooklyn instead...

Listened to a driver fighting w/dispatcher(I think)at the Alamo Petro sat morning---as I was stumblin into fuel bldg for coffee--big commotion--driver is sayin(loudly) how he was hired and told expressly he will NOT have to go to NYC--I can hear other side of conversation--as can everyone in the entire city of San Antonio--LOL
Dispatcher say how many times do I have to say it it is NY State not NYC---driver says where? Other voice says it's out on long island someplace---I'll send directions to your qualcomm•-
Driver says fine--because I DONT do NYC--& hung up.....
He then realized the whole world had been listening---& said(&you can't make this #### up!)
"That's how YOU deal w/these ####### Dispatchers you just gotta show em you ain't gonna let em PUSH you around"
I managed to keep a straight face as I said--Good job son.....
