You nailed it. I don't update my profile on here regularly. Not that big of a concern of mine.

Here's a question. What if you have a mechanical truck? Or one old enough that wouldn't adapt to the elog? Just curious...

A different note, soon as this is set in stone, I guarantee some programming genius finds a way to sell software so you can reprogram the elog. That person would make a killing and the option to run illegal is open again. I mean really there's only one reason for a mandate on the elogs. The mega carriers can't compete with those without elogs, so they have enough resources to make a run at the representatives to mandate this. As far as I'm aware of, those that still want to be outlaws will and those that don't won't.

I do look forward to the day the ruling is final so when the GOVT has it reversed I can have a laugh. Sadly... not many see trucking as a lifestyle anymore. This is a real shame...

The megas that have thousands and thousands of trucks can't compete? Really?

I think he was talking about speed of delivery. An outlaw on paper logs can run 900+ miles a day and only sleeps four hours a night.

Sorry should have been more clear! And really every truck being on EOBR would mean a level playing field.

Level my #### ......i knowcthere is a quote about all animals being equal but some are more equal than others
    I believe from animal farm
Problem isn,t running illegal it,s cost of operation my trucks cost less to operate and less to purchase but if they want to level the playing field i wamt access to their reduced insurance rates so i can hire and train nigerian immigrants and get gov,t grants for the honor

There's still no way a single truck can compete with a fleet. The fleet will just relay the load to another unit and keep it going. Team operation will always out perform a single truck.

You are right on the animal farm quote. Either way the megas have had EOBR for years and they also have the most representatives compared to us O/O. The info is out there, it's just time consuming to research, and I'd rather be driving than researching behind a desk.

Kuddos on finding them Nigerians! Heard they are hard to come by lol.

But still to my original question, if you have a mechanical truck, would you be forced to get a new truck for the requirement of having the EOBR? I'd imagine yes, but if not then I'm getting that mechanical cat I love so dearly.

I'd imagine it would be done via gps tracking technology same as my gps. It keeps track of my hours. Once you drive a mile it auto switches to the driving line. If your stopped for 15 minutes it puts you on duty not driving.
