You are getting 7 to 8 CDN MPG. How fast do you drive and is it as flat as Toronto to Montreal? Are you running empty one way?

As far as the weights, I have no idea...just going by his posts. I guess he meant 2,000 in the can. Still pretty light. What does a chassis itself weigh?

I'm 31200 empty with a hc 40 and full tanks. Chassis are mostly 8k some more. I do air mile and idle a lot and still get those numbers. Empty one way always and I go 65mph tops but I normally cruise at 60-65 depending on boost levels. The roads I travel on arnt that flat but I'm also tuned.

Im at about 74k when loaded maxed out with legal weight.

That's about the same as I weigh with my step deck. Don't know why I couldn't get 8-9 mpg pulling that setup with my truck.

I have a small block cat and aggressive tread pattern. So you probably would get .8 mpg better.

My last TRIAXLE HI CUBE container load through Ontario from crossing in at Fort Erie to Port of Montreal ( Lachine ) was GVW 84,940 lbs scaled on the cat scale in Grimsby Ont and averaged 7.8 MPG ( CANUCK GALLONS ) for that trip

also, the air is denser, thus more to push through.

Trans and dif oil are thicker when cold and this harder to turn

Engine may or may not reach optimal running temp. I've heard (not sure it true) engine looses 1/10 mpg for every 10 degrees above or below optimal. Optimal for mine is 185. In -10 with no rad cover it peeks at 150. thats 3/10ths mpg right there.

Tires are more likely to leak in cold weather and thus under inflation can cause problems if the drivers don't check enough.

Its easy to loose 2 or 3 mpg in cold weather. I'm always amazed at how good my mpg is when i get to 50+ weather lol.

M11 Cummins (10.9L), 4.33 rear gear, 13OD, closed shoulder lugs, try to drive at 60-62 mph. With that steep rear axle ratio, I could get better mileage at 55 but I'd get run over.
