Been having some pain in my shoulder blades and on the top of my shoulders. It's like a burning type pain. I've been taking aleeve. That seemed to work. Before that it was Motrin. I'm not looking for. Pain killer but somthing over the counter that works wonders. I've tried driving with out wallet in back pocket, Icey hot, heat pack, ice pack, stretching, different steering wheel positions, different seat height, and different style of holding the steering wheel. Seems I'm lost for ideas
any ideas?

Maybe you're too old....
lol JK, man. Idk, honestly..
I was adjusted to the truck after 2 months or so...RogerThat72 Thanks this. -
Have you had it checked out or just doing the home remedy treatments ?
379exhd Thanks this. -
I would suggest a massage from a young lady from the Asian side of the Pacific.
Jokingypsy, sherlock510, ncmickey and 3 others Thank this. -
All new drivers go through pain adjusting. It probably took a year for my tailbone to adjust. Then yep shoulder pains too. Eventually it goes away. Wait until you get in your 50's when you are all wore out and the pain really returns.
Big Don and RogerThat72 Thank this. -
Could be a pinched nerve but likely it's your posture. I would consult a doc and see if you can go for a round of rehab. Believe when I say that getting good rehab with a physical therapist is a Godsend. I've had a couple of ailments with one pretty serious and with proper rehab, it made me a new man.
do not underestimate the power of rehab. Your body will respond and heal your pain. Forget about pain killers. That's no good at all.
good luck -
Great. I'm in real trouble. Been driving only a little over a year & turned 50 last June. The deck is stacked against me!!

I'm 24, thanks for the quick responses. I'll try and do some other things. My tail bone and bottom sure did hurt but now that's no problem. Maybe over time this will go away too.
i think I'll have to try some deep tissue run downs while on home time. My wife doesn't like doing them for more then 10 minutes says he hands get tired. Maybe if I have another woman do it the motivation will come alive!!

1. Are you using your armrests? That would help to keep your shoulders and head in proper alignment & ultimately alleviate further damage. Also, be very watchful of your body mechanics when you're getting in and out of the truck. It's easy to pull shoulder and neck muscles doing it wrong. Another position to look at---are you sitting too far back from the steering wheel?
When your hands are on the wheel at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock, your elbows should be bent and as close to your body as you can safely turn the wheel. Extending your arms and not having a bend in your elbows will really cause all your difficulties as well as the other things I mentioned.
2. The green ADVIL gel caps have worked wonders for me. Yeah, I know, Ibuprofen is Ibuprofen. But really it isn't. I swear by the green Advil.
3. How long you been behind the wheel? It can take some time to get used to this job. Your using muscles in a way they haven't been used before.
4. If you've got an inverter, be sure and get a heating pad at Walmart so you can put it on your upper back while you sleep. That will help to relax the muscles.
Let me know how you're doing and if you have any doubts about my advice, ck out my profile and you'll see I've got some qualifications to back it up.Last edited: Mar 21, 2014
