Oh you bet I will. They just sent the jockey out telling everyone that was still here that the loads wouldn't be ready till morning and to drop trailers, "leave the premises" and come back in the morning. I just shook my head, unhooked, thought about line 5-ing it, but no don't want to get myself in trouble with regulatory, so I stopped halfway out the lot and talked with the jockey again, told him I had been here since 4pm and was 8 hours into my 10 hour break and that if I left I would have to start my clock. He starts saying "man I'm just doin' what I'm told, not lookin' to get cussed out or anything", and I know its not his fault, hes just doing his job hes not the one calling the shots here.

I just said "look man, I know its not your fault, I'm not gonna cuss you out or anything, but man I'm getting royally ****ed by having to start my clock and leave." He just looked down for a sec and then said "ok man, just go ahead and shut down, yeah just go ahead and shut down here".

I have a feeling I wouldn't have got the same response from him if I had thrown a fit, cussed him out and blamed him for all the problems. Gotta have some patience with PEOPLE sometimes, because its NOT always their fault and sometimes they, like this jockey, are just trying to do their jobs.

On the bright side, looks like I'll be getting paid to sleep until the load is ready in the morning. Downside is no way I'll have this delivered today on the 22nd, which means I won't be able to pick up my load in Carlisle and that was my ticket back down south, the only reason I took this load anyway, especially on the weekends when nothing new shows up.

I will definately put up the name of this customer, and you better believe I will NEVER be coming back here again. The problem is that will be near impossible to avoid accidentally assigning one of this loads in the future, because I have another customer that is one of my favorites about 2 blocks down the street, same zip code, etc. Luckily I should be able to tell who is who by load weight.

Brother, I ain't even running hard......the reason for the $880 deposit was because I came home last weekend for some rest and to take a physical on Monday. I'm home right now. I will leave out on Monday for a 2 week trip, so the pay usually looks like $1700 week one and $1000 week 2 (gone home on Friday).

But, I get tired of people like Moose (and quite a few more) who say all L/P's are rip offs. I'll admit, the majority are. But what me and a bunch of other folks got going on isn't. Furthermore, even if Moose were to have done as well financially as I have, every day he had someone tell him where to go, what to do, and when he gets to go home.....we get NONE of that....NONE. And to me and most of the rest of us, that's priceless.

Also, full disclosure, right now I'm guessing $10k of that $20k will go to taxes.....but, nevertheless....

    Drifter42 Thanks this.

I don't want to Hi-Jack DFO's thread but I'm with you. One of the things I found out I couldn't live with is depending on someone else to get me home. Dealing with some nose picking bugger eating dispatcher that couldn't use common since if his life depended on it was just to much for me to bear. Mostly talking about night time or the weekend.
I think you guys have a really good gig going and if I ever went back out on the road I would go that choice program. The best of luck with all of you. Drive safe.
