Started at 1:45 am today. Did a D&h in Cottage Grove, Mn. Then a live unload at Apple Valley with 2 p/u in the cities. First one was super tight. I had to have them move 3 cars just so I could get a good angle at the dock and even then it was a pain. 402 miles and $40 in stop. Ended my day at 1:15 pm

If you calculate the load pay and divide it by the number of hours you were working what would the hourly rate come out to be? That will tell you if your job is worth working. Just curious.

    HTH,

I read this thread and found it interesting. However, I'm curious as to why you took a job paying that low of CPM??? As one poster said, there are better paying jobs out there. If it was me, id hire on with J&R Shugel or HO Wolding. Both companies are great. From what it appears, your happy and that's the way to be.

John Menard didn't get to be the wealthiest man in Wisconsin by treating his employees fairly. This dude makes Scrooge look like a spendthrift. Remember reading an article some years back that the 2nd highest paid guy in his company, like the CFO or something made $60K. Menard, meanwhile is a billionaire. He's also been sued a lot for tax evasion and other nefarious dealings.

Hometown- if your happy that's all that matters. Get some experience and age on you and you'll find better oppoertunities

As a side note they are doing a trial period of putting cameras in the truck.... Yippee! :biggrin_25510:

I couldn't start till 3:15 a.m. because we have some new guys learning the ropes. I did a D&H in Baxter, MN and a D&H in Rice Lake, WI. 553 miles and $10 in stop pay. Truck was parked by 2:45 p.m.

Sounds like I will finally get my wish and will be moving to 2nd shift (after 8 months of saying I wanted to switch) some time this next month. Most people seek those day jobs but you have to put up with a lot less B.S. on 2nds. I will have to do more flatbeds. But the upside is I get an extra .5/mile, almost no vendor pick-ups, and I will more than likely never touch a rail can again.
