True words indeed. I worked as a temporary dietary aide at an understaffed nursing home. I really used to hate seeing that Sysco truck pull up wanting to unload LMAO.

I made excellent money delivering to grocery stores and hated it; seems grocery stores hire the town losers to work in the stockrooms and stocking shelves.

I was kinda interested in the oil and gas business. Is there any equipment that a guy with a CDL can learn to make better money?

I've met a lot of guys who make a real killing pulling tankers for the oil and gas companies. Most of those require some experience though first... But if you're tough enough to do the long hours and such, it's one of the highest paying sectors of trucking.

Yard jockey has not been mentionned. Most get around $20.00 an hour, overtime pay, home everyday. Not a whole lot of money, but if you figure out your hourly wage as a truck driver, it is awfully depressing.

Some cities pay their city bus drivers very well...

Oh yeah, forgot about that... Plus, there's the added benefit that you can crash the trailers into whatever you want, since they belong to the carriers and not your company. At least, I'm assuming that it's ok to do this, since I see them doing it with our brand new 2014 trailers all over the place. Grrr.

I think the favorite yard jockey move is to pull out from under the trailer while it's still high in the air and let it make a satisfying "BOOM!" as it compresses the landing gear.

Some guys make big money running big tow trucks. The combination of all the new trucks that break down and all the new drivers that wreck means you should have pretty good job security.
