That will really work with a flat bed. i have been told to move from private property by an leo. I got a sticker in arizona about parking in the desert,on private or public land.I have never parked on the side of the road, very few times have i parked on a ramp,Personally,I would rather see a truck parked on a ramp than coming across the median at me.

Forgive me if I am misinterpreting this, and if I am, feel free to tell me what you meant.

But the way I'm reading this is: "By doing a paper log, I can fudge my time and lie about what I'm doing so that way I can squeeze in 11 hours of driving plus all of the other stuff I want to do during the day, thereby violating the law."

To each their own I suppose, but the mentality of fudging the logs so you can break the law is exactly why we have e-logs in the first place. No one would've bother spending any money to develop and manufacture them if the drivers were actually following the hours of service regulations. That's what I find so funny about the situation - those that hate the e-logs the most are the very ones responsible for its existence.

I have no problems running a full day on e-logs. It does require a bit more planning than paper logs might, since with e-logs I actually have to OBEY THE LAW (GASP! SAY IT AINT SO!), but if you are unable to run a full day on e-logs, then it's a personal problem with your method of operation. The regulations are the same for both paper and e-logs... It just so happens that on e-logs, you actually have to think, plan, and obey the law.

No more getting away with squeezing in that's extra hour and not logging it. Why? Because the people who did it one too many times killed someone, and now they have big brother watching us because we refused to follow the regs.

No, there aren't any Wally Worlds on that stretch of interstate. However, there are dozens of rest areas with amazing scenic views.

On the MyDAT app they have a Walmart finder as well, in addition to finding rest areas, truck stops, weigh scales, fuel prices, etc. etc.

This is fundamentally the best advice. If you are able to trip plan to shut down in the late morning to early afternoon you have the "pick of the litter" in the parking lot. Night running has a HUGE advantage for maximizing miles, since you are running at the speed limit through major metropolitan areas. My favorite time to start driving is midnight. If I choose to park for a 10 at a truck stop I can park easily, shower without waiting in line, and be well rested by the time the solar panel drivers figure out how to park creatively in between the designated parking. The only hassle is sometimes having to wake them up to get out of my spot.

I love reading this kind of stuff on here.
So EZX1100 is just a law breaking criminal in your mind because he/she can calmly drive to the next spot to check for an open space.
And conversely those of you on e-log start sweating bullets if you have to do the same thing cause your machine is ticking down, followed by what if you violate? - potentially some form of punishment from your company and maybe even a company fine $ in some sort of way or a mark in your employee record they could use against you when they feel like it.
Did ezx1100 say he/she used the paper logs to run like a hardened criminal -"No".
And if you feel like ezx1100 is one, what shall we compare the crime to --aaahhh ....J walking.
I love when folks say the reason "WE" have e-logs is because of all the Law breaking paper loggers ...LOL ..i doubt it --just maybe its because its 2014 and everything is computerized and it is so easy for the companies to keep track of things by installing electronics in the trucks.
Or maybe its because the companies had to spend so much time and money trying to teach drivers how to log it became impossible.
What year did getting a CDL come with the "i never ever break the law Truck driver / law enforcement officer endorsement.

i am getting loaded right now,

Landstar and I are both going to the same place

we both spent the night at the TA about 30 miles away

i am getting loaded, then he is getting loaded

his elogs started when he left the truckstop, mine starts when i leave here

now, do you think he will be more tired than I will be when we arrive? do you think i will be more tired than him? he is ticked off because his day has started, where mine has not, he wont leave here for about two hours after me

so in the scheme of things, is this illegal or more cumbersome bureacracy?

we will both arrive at the receiver this evening some time, HE has to watch a clicking clock, i will take my time, nap if i feel like it

so who is really in the safer position?

interestingly enough, we both had 0900 appts, but he wont leave till 1130

LOL --so you e-log drivers never limped along at 5mph to get a few miles down the road to keep the "machine" from turning on (i have read about that on here 1000 times).
I heard one valid argument so far from Joseph (in another thread) and that was that the e-logs can work in your favor and keep the companies from running you to death -which makes sense.
But on the other hand no one on paper is forced to run an illegal log or is kept from finding another company to work for.
For the e-log fans, dont worry i am sure every driver will be on them eventually .... and a few years after that the threads will be titled; " I wish we could run on paper logs like they used to do".
